Warriors,

As a published developer in Joomla I just received special email from Joomla Core team
regarding an upcoming big change... It is going to effect almost every user of Joomla, specially to developers with non-GPL extentions for joomla...

Also Joomla 1.0 is going to be ...what they say... Death of Joomla 1.0.x :-)

Here are some quotes from the email:

No More Non-GPL
On Monday, the JED itself was relaunched on the Joomla! 1.5 platform using a new GNU GPL licensed Joomla! 1.5 version of Mosets Tree. Along with this several important new policies were announced. These will be implemented over the next six months, and the JED team pledges to work closely with the third party developer community as we make this transition.

Starting on March 31 the JED will no longer accept new non GPL extensions and on July 1 all non GPL extensions will be removed.
Death of Joomla 1.0.x

Also, on March 31 the JED will stop accepting new extensions for Joomla! 1.0 and on July 1 all 1.0 extensions will be unpublished. Finally, by July 1 all extensions will need to fully comply with the project's trademark policies.

So if you are using Joomla 1.0.x maybe it is time to think to move forward....
At least for any new joomla site NEVER ever go with joomla 1.0.x but Joomla 1.5.x
Yes if you want to take full advantage of Joomla Community you need to be
using Joomla 1.5.x for all upcoming support and releases for joomla.

And if you are a developer you need to take note the new license policy of the Joomla.

And also good news is for us as users is that it is going to get better and better,
and it would be all in open source to take it , use it, and benefit from it!

Best Wishes,
Mohsin Rasool
