kindle when will they fix it... couple problems I see and have

The same book sold by so many people at so many prices...

Same book sold with new graphics and new title but is the same ebook

My problem

Then you have the original author... ME

Take me for example I was thinking about selling some of my stuff..

I created a new product every month for the last 5 years or so... most came with resell rights...

Here is my problem My ebooks are showing up on kindle as my name as the author from lots of people and many prices... some made new graphics (flat cover not a 3-d)

Someone who does not know has a software program I made on kindle, it is not even a book that could be used by kindle it is a windows software program.

if I put some of my books on kindle (i have lots without RR) and people like them they will search for other books by me... this leading them to the RR ebooks and they will be going to other sellers.

A. Many people selling my book looks like crap... at many prices.
B. It leads them away from me making money
C. Several people changed the cover but still have my title and my author name.
D. some reason on the internet seeing this don't bother me as much, even on ebay did not bother me... But kindle it does...

This goes back to soon amazon will be filled with RR and PLR and changing title or cover graphics will help hide...

So I think this is hurting my author name by having all these sellers at all the prices...

What to do?

Richard

I think we will see a new rights rule

(NO) can be sold on kindle

Well, for the stuff you've already sold with RR there isn't much you can do. Sure, in the future you'll want to put more restrictions on your work but why create a majority of your products with resale rights at all?

I agree that eventually Amazon will get enough complaints about duplicated material showing up everywhere. I read last week that there aren't even a million books on Kindle yet. The whole Kindle thing is still in its infancy.

I'd say it's a sure bet that once legitimate "inventory" increases as authors rush to the new marketplace Amazon will severly restrict PLR and RR books. The only reason they're not doing it now is that they need titles. Good luck.

Maybe you could publish new material under a pen name. Lots of people do that.

The genie's out of the bottle. Move on.

The best thing I can suggest is to use a new pen name and build up your brand equity for that name.

If you are as prolific as you say you are, you will soon have a new range of books.

Honestly... it is only a matter of time. Amazon has to be getting complaints from people buying several books only to get the exact same book with a different title and cover.

Not much you can do really. As others suggested use a pen name. It would be nice to Amazon do something about the exact same books being published. They made it much more difficult to publish public domain material so I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

    I guess...

I would hold Amazon with higher standards than RR or PLR stuff.

I can see it being another Ebay... 100 sellers selling the same ebook for 99 cents.

One of my products someone has on is a windows software program. It won't even work on the kindle. They don't even know what there doing.

I'm sure they will fix it with a Amazon slap someday.

    Big mike Said:
Just on a comment on your title - I don't really see how it's Amazon's/Kindle's problem or why they should fix it. And what would the fix be? Flagging ebooks with your name as the author?

I think of Amazon with higher standards... Just as Google slap took place so will the Amazon Slap I see it alread.

If they had a no RR or PLR policy this would help. If you do any research it is filling up fast with dupe content.

Just a quick thought: figure out a way to turn the tables on them, something like...

"The Missing Chapters Nobody Else Has" etc.

Not sure if this will work or not, but at least doing something like this will get you out of the negative thinking syndrome which is certainly not making anything better.

What you can do is combine some of your ebooks that are on related subjects to make a totally new book that is better than everyone elses.

That's what I do, I also take the time to make sure the book is well laid out, even shuffeling the chapters around, adding in articles (either PLR or I write myself) as new chapters etc..(of course, I make sure I have the appropriate PLR rights for this)

The thing is even if your book has the same content in part as other books, most people wont even think anything of it. I'm sure you have read several books on the same subject and they probably have the same ideas in them, right? Unless they have been able to memorize the other book word for word, they will just think "Oh yeah, I read this somewhere else too, this guy must know what he is talking about".

Wait...you are complaining because you sold your books WITH resell rights, and people are actually reselling them?

Or are you just upset at the way they are formatting them and using your name?

I think instead a better way to handle this is to sell your resell rights products with instructions on how to sell it on Kindle! Give instructions or put a rule in the book that states that if they want to sell the book on Kindle, they must use their own cover graphics and change the author name and title.

That way, whatever name you are using isn't linked.

It's been said above, but I would go for the pen name option. Create a new name/brand and use your real name only for your RR content.

It's too late to fix this issue. When making the decision to release your ebooks as PLR products you should have released them under a pen name. The only thing you can do now is release your future works under a pen name.

I've also noticed a lot of people selling ebooks I wrote years ago on Amazon using different titles and covers. Fortunately I used a pen name or was ghostwriting for a PLR website so it isn't affecting my current Kindle projects.

The only thing you can do right now is use a pen name and wait. Since the sellers bought the rights to resell and I'm sure they have proof Amazon is unlikely to do anything about this. However, I've started hearing stories of resellers having certain PLR ebooks removed from their accounts after Amazon received too many complaints.

You've mentioned it but definitely add a rule that prohibits selling your products on Amazon as Kindle ebooks.

I do not believe that is a Kindle issue.

You sold resell rights, and now other people are using those resell rights... and the problem is???

If you do not want others to compete against you with your own product or want to have total control over the marketing of your product, then don't sell resell rights.
