I need a WYSIWYG html editor, I think

I have sites I have created with Notepad, Notepad++, etc. Meaning I know enough HTML to build a site. But, I am very, very busy running the offline part of my business and it is formidable, indeed. Time is precious. Thus, hand-coding a site... I think that is not efficient. I built one on Weebly.com recently and it was super easy. I want to concentrate on the copywriting and SEO, not the hand-coding. I only have so much time.

Anyone recommend a WYSIWYG html editor? Free is great, yes but I can also buy if I have to. Or, what about just using something like Weebly.com?

Years ago, some people used Frontpage, but it put extra code in and I don't know if it is available anymore or if it still puts extra code in. Or do search engines not care so much about extra code these days?

And if you don't want to use Wordpress, Dreamweaver is the obvious paid solution.

You can try Kompozer which is free. It can be found on sourceforge dot org.

NVU is bug-ridden and Kompozer hasn't been updated in 18 months.

You might be better off with something like Coffeecup's visual Site Designer or XSitePro that are properly supported.

A nice Wordpress theme from ThemeForest goes a long way towards negating the need for WYSIWYG software in a lot of cases.

Komposer is good. So is pagebreeze If you know code at all (which you do) you can remove the "created with pagebreeze" in the footer.

Oh, I forgot, if you want a free version of Artisteer, go to cooltemplate.com

It does 95% of what Artisteer does online and it's free.

I use DreamWeaver there is a learning curve though. It is easy if you have used wysiwyg before.
Wordpress is becoming the norm though so I would probably advise it.
    Best of luck to you.

I agree about using Wordpress, get a good template, learn a bit about working with the code and creating child themes. The time invested will pay off as you'll end up with a "plug and play" system for creating sites fast.

Other than that, Dreamweaver is still good. It can add a bit of wonky code but not too bloated.

You could go for Optimizepress. I like their drag and drop feature and want to believe you can still edit your html in wordpress with the Optimizepress theme.

I find the WYSIWYG editors add extra work when you come to fine tuning your site. You already know HTML, if I were you I would just buy a template and change it to suit your site. Or, as previous posters have suggested, just use Wordpress - there's loads of free themes.

Outsource the coding on odesk - $5/hr for good html/php coders
I wouldn't bother using Frontpage or Dreamweaver - they won't speed up development and you will just end up not using the wysiwyg aspect of it anyway due to testing in multiple browsers

FPExpress from microsoft is pretty easy to use. It's basically the old FrontPage platform. You can search on google and bring up tons of sites which will allow you to download the freeware.

I personally use Dreamweaver and Adobe Business Catalyst, but if you're looking for for a way save time and money, you should check out business catalyst. It is an extremely powerful platform that has e-mail marketing, blogging, secure members area, CRM database, and a whole lot more inside one central platform.

With browsers degrading tags as fast as they seem to be doing lately, I'd stick with the notepad because have to edit most others anyway, although WP seems to be keeping up with tags that work in the 4 major browsers well enough. (With Dreamweaver, the code looks heavier than the page! LMAO!)
