Let's say I want to promote a electronic device. Whenever you search for anything on Google the first thing that comes up is amazon.com in the search and most of the time in Google ads on the right of the page you'll see a Google ad for that product. How do you make money when Google is promoting the product themselves is it possible?

You could try and promote whatever product is competing with they product that you wanted to promote. There for when you promote the other you can also give a review of the other as well. Not sure if that made sense but I tried.

I've found that it is quite easy to outrank Amazon. As to competing with the Google ads, just make sure that you have a well-written meta description and title, enticing enough to be clicked on.

The Google ads on the side are other affiliates who have paid to advertise through Adwords. I would focus on targeted keywords for that product and keep updating your site with solid content. Eventually you will rank at the top of Google where most people go first. I've outsourced articles on a particular product and posted it on ezinesarticle with a link pointing directly to my product site. If done right you can make sales while climbing the ladder in Google.

It's not easy, but it is possible.

One trick is to focus on what type of person would buy the product you are selling and where online that person would hang out. Forums, related message boards, classified site areas, hobby sites and the like can be just the perfect place to catch these potential buyers before they start their full on G@@gle search.

So it's sort of like getting to your buyers before they even know they want the product. I know, it sounds nutty, but think about it.

If you are selling snow boots for example, right at the start of winter you can canvass all the areas online where outdoor types, survivalists and camping buffs go.

You can even start a FB fan site. This way, you'll have an already existing base of people to market to.

From the forums and similar sites plus YTube accounts you create related to snow and outdoors you can create a traffic stream and also hopefully get a lot of opt-ins to your email list.

You can then funnel traffic to your other mini site/s that you've created to sell your snow boots.

This way you can begin marketing to them even before they realize they want a new pair of boots.

The other folks you get, may have been just about to start their buying process, so u would get those types too.

Then the third type of buyers are the ones that were not thinking about getting your snow boots, but were convinced that they needed a pair by your great related product videos, posts, comments and backlinks to your snow boot sites and similar content.

That's some good advice above. Sometimes amazon.com is there because there aren't enough competitors in the niche, so it looks intimidating, but it's actually easy to outrank them with some good on and off page seo work.
