Do your feelings dictate what you do?

Hi All!

I heard a question tonight that made me stop and think!

"Do your feelings dictate what you do?" Well, do they?

If you are a true entrepreneur your feelings do not dictate what you do. Most successful entrepreneurs are successful because they are the small percentage that do what they do not "feel" like doing.

What motivates you? What keeps you going and pushing for the prize?

That is what makes you an entrepreneur and not a want to be entrepreneur.

Thoughts?

HELLZ NAH! I don't let feelings control squat in my life. Lol

I learned that a few years ago when I read a book called The Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Once I was able to recognize the different between my true voice and my ego's voice, controlling my thoughts and actions became childs play.

You make a great point though man, Entrepreneus are successful because they consistently do the sh*t that no one else wants to learn/do, and they do it until it works for them! Then rinse and repeat!

It changed my life bro. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to understand more about themselves, consciousness, and how the mind functions on its deepest levels.

Feelings dictate about 100% of what I do in life. If something makes me unhappy I don't do it. There is always options A and B, A being something that leaves you feeling bad and B that leaves you feeling good. Even if option B takes more work and time its worth it to sleep well at night and know that not only have you made other people happy but that what comes around goes around and you've done the right thing. I would venture to say that those who disagree are in for big profits but for short terms, I've been doing this for 12 years now (just started feeling old after writing that).

I'm not just talking about WF or IM but life in general, you'll live a much happier life if you choose the proper path as opposed to the easy path.

My feelings, mood, and day would always dictate how or if I did things and I have changed that. It was one of the harder things I had to do but once I did it made a world of difference not only with my online endeavors but in life in general.

Yes, feelings in general are the bloodline of internet marketing. When you write your articles, blogs etc. you want to evoke emotions. Look at the marketing ads the better ones say things that sound personal to you and make a person feel like they need it.

You are DEAD ON POINT with that one bro, except that is how we SELL online. If we let ourselves become entranced with emotions, we are not able to make clear and concise decisions.

Not to say that emotions are bad, cause I LOVE EM'! But the problem is people let them run their lives sometimes.

      Ya digg?

No, mine don't. You can't let emotions and feelings get in the way of your success.

As humans we're mainly way too easy on ourselves. WE need to conquer that and conquer the fear we have when attempting anything new.

I've been doing this for a long time and STILL get those butterflies sometimes when launching something new or putting money into something that i'm not 100% sure will work. But I will never know for sure unless I try.

For me, I try not to let my feelings dictate how much or how little work I do. When it comes to that, I'm like a robot.

I guess I have a different perspective than some.

Years ago I took a philosophy course by a well-known (at the time) scientist on 'logic & the scientific method' -- in the course, the professor pointed out that one of the most fundamental principles of the scientific method itself was based on the precept ("Occam's razor") that the simpler answer that explains all known phenomena s preferred to the complex explanation.

Then he asked why, i.e., on what scientific or logical basis can we conclude that that is true? His answer was that it is because it appeals to us, i.e., it has an aesthetic appeal to the human mind that the simpler explanation (that explains all known phenomena) would be the better one -- but there was no logical way that that can actually be proven.

And the aesthetic sense is an emotional, non-rational one. So even when we are being as rational as possible, we are doing it because it satisfies us in some way, i.e., emotionally.

Maybe you accept this, maybe you don't -- but if you really think about why you are doing something, whether it is what you think you feel like doing at the time or not, there is some emotional basis for it, i.e., you think putting off immediate gratification and working on your business will lead to a better life, i.e., make you feel better about your life, yourself, etc. Emotion again, feelings.

So yeah. I say feelings play a primary role in everything every human being does, whether any specific human being recognizes it or not.

But it's just my perspective. Maybe I've "overthunk" it, and maybe I'm wrong.

I agree 100% with Wolfster. His story reminds me of a psychology class in college where we discussed the "id" and how it is in more control of us than most of us are willing to admit. Science backs it up.

It is sometimes common for younger people (and even older ones occasionally) to feel that they must remove feeling and emotion to be good at something... as if it makes you look or feel more courageous or empowered. I think it's a lie. Your feelings and emotion are your instincts that internally guide you and keep you on an ethical course. It aligns you with reality and the Golden Rule. Throw it out or disregard it and I think you're heading down a long, dark road.
