Newbie To Niche Sites Would Love Positive Criticism

Hi all

My name's Tom and I'm brand new to the forum. I have only very recently got into internet marketing, despite having built my first website over 10 years ago and having been interested in web development and entrepreneurship for many years.

I have kicked off my "career" with a niche site called Modeling For Kids (www dot modelingforkids dot net). It's been live for just over three weeks. I have been concentrating on adding quality content and building links. I'm currently sitting around 17th in Google for the key phrase "modeling for kids".

My link building tactic has been largely based on Pat Flynn's "THE Backlinking Strategy That Works" article. I have submitted spun articles to the main article sites, and have set up blogs and web 2.0 properties. I have then mass-submitted articles linking to those sites via UAW.

I have been advised by Joseph Archibald that there is little point going any further with the link-building strategy above. Having submitted 5 different articles via UAW that combined link to all my "secondary" sites, I have probably already utilised most of the backlinks and would simply be repeating myself.

So, what else can I do to promote my website's Google ranking? I am taking part and offering advice in the child modeling forums I have found, but am otherwise out of ideas to target quality backlinks.

Many thanks!

Tom

(P.S. I spent time diligently linking through to mine, Pat's and Joseph's sites but was then told I couldn't post links! Will have to wait until I'm past that 15 post limit...)

Welcome Tom. You can create a signature file and put your link(s) there right from the start. You'll get more lookers if you do that.

      @travlinguy - good suggestion - thanks!

@Steve McBride - Thanks for your kind words! I'm a little nervous about this method - is there a possibility that they may overload my site with junk links and irritate Google?

@nicolas simpson - the site is more aimed at parents rather than the kids, but I totally take your suggestion on board. The problem is, I am awful with photoshop (or any similar software). I was planning on investing in a logo design when the site is producing a bit of income.

@Mike Black - the suggestion about the Google search looks interested, I'm going to check that out...I'll pop you an email too - thanks!

@omk - that's a good one - I had thought about that previously but completely forgotten. I'm going to get on that.

There are backlink programs where you can pay to have others do all that for you. The prices are relatively cheap, and you get a lot of them much faster than on your own. If you have a little extra money to spend, that is a great way to do that so that you can focus on the quality content of your site.

Looks like you have an interesting niche there with a lot of promise for hungry buyers. Good luck!

yep the 1st thing you need to do is put your signature in your posts footer.

Nice clean site you have there. Try to get a header on your page to make a bit more colorful remember that wee are dealing with kids here..

    Wish you all the best.

    Hey Tom,

What you want to do is build backlinks on sites that are relevant to yours with high PR. What you want to do is build your links on individual pages on those sites with the highest PR. What you want to do is go to google and download SEO quake. When you do that you can see info on every site in googles listings.

You want to type in your keyword phrase or a keyword phrase relevant to yours + powered by wordpress to find blogs, or you can just type +blog, or whatever you're interested. If you need any help add me on skype- msb1040 or email me msb1040@gmail.com

    good luck

Try creating or finding some videos you can post on YT, with links back to your site.

It's possible, but just look for ones that promise quality backlinks. If they are getting you 5000 backlinks within 2 days they probably aren't of the highest quality. I would look for ones that will get you backlinks from 4-6 PR sites. It's better to have fewer high quality backlinks, than a lot of low quality backlinks.

PS: Check the warrior for hire section, or just do a search here on the forum. I'm sure there are some members that run a service like this already.
