My Amazon sites: Plenty of clicks from Canada: No conversions

My amazon sites are converting really well for the US: Around 7.8% and making good money but the problem is I get plenty of clicks through to Amazon Canada and UK (approaching several thousand) but no conversions at all.

Any one else experience this problem?

I use a link localizer plugin in wordpress that detects where the visitors are from and adjusts the links to direct them to their national amazon site (either US, CA or UK).

  • Had that too. Sales happening on the US site, but any other traffic is not converting.

I think if you're using the US link, it sends them to the correct page, whereas with the other local stores it just sends them to the front page.

Perhaps that stops them from buying at all? I dno, I just thought my UK traffic was crap. but 0 conversions....

My US traffic converts between 4-7 %.

      Thanks for the reply.

      I hadn't thought of that.

I think this is something that requires some more investigation on my part because I'm getting a lot of wasted clicks from Canada

  • localizer isn't really that great. It just means you don't completely waste the traffic, but you're less likely to sell to other local stores if they don't have the same ASIN.

Giving the users different links depending on countries wont work either. Needs a plugin that allows you to manually add the link to the product on each local store, and then depending on their location locates the closest one.

Oops, let that one out, but I don't have the cash or time to go ahead with it at the moment.

Ha, that could be part of it, but the truth is that a lot of products on the U.S. Amazon site can't be shipped to Canada.

The customer is probably very willing; but Amazon is not.

Canada have their own Amazon site though. So I'd assume the products ship from Canada or am I incorrect here?

        I'll do some research tonight.
