Finally gone full time!

Hi Everyone!

I spent the last 4 years working for one of the biggest brands in the UK managing their SEO and recently left, moved North and set-up shop for myself! Eeeek!

I am hugely guilty of lurking around this forum and just reading all the posts so for that, i'm sorry, but thank-you! Some of the posts here are among the most inspiring I have ever come across and really helped my decision.

I've got a couple of referrals for some SEO reports and bits and bobs, but hope to increase my client base quickly - any ideas!?

If anyone needs any SEO help or advice, just get in touch and I hope to really get to know some of you over the next few months! (Whilst further developing my own online stuff).

I've never really participated in a forum before properly, so go easy!

Cheers guys )

Hi Red Mist. Glad to have you here. I am a loong-time lurker too & have finally decided to start participating on the forum. Everything here looks good so far.

A quick way to increase your client base? Maybe you start by promoting your website in your sig link?

Nice to have another full time warrior around. Congratulations for leaving your day job and starting your own business. This is what I believe any serious internet marketer should do to go big.

I want to mention one thing here. I have no idea what your business plans are etc. but while providing SEO services to others, work on your own online projects as well, which will bring you passive, long term income, be it a blog, a community site or an affiliate review site. This is important because if you don't create your own web assets, when you quit SEO, you will not have another source of income to rely on.

You can check the Offline Marketing Discussions forum, there you will find more than enough advice on how to expand your client base.

I wish you all good luck.

Would be a start - Im not even a paid up member yet and im still filling out my about me! I'll get round to it this morning.

I've been cocooned in a cozy in-house role for too long and forgot how skeptical some business owners are towards SEO and online stuff. Lets hope I can convince them with my charm!

    Nice to meet you )

      Skeptical?

How can they be sceptical about proven on paper factual keyword searches per month based on keyword terms to do with their business? lol - stupid business owners.

"Hey there mr business man, say you own a catering company in leeds. Well would you look at that 3,600 searches for "leeds catering" per month ancd your direct competitor is number 1 and your not!

Anyway, very inspiring, dont give up. Good on ya!

    Hi Nail,

Thanks for the comment. I do have a few projects on the go but working the long hours as I was, I never got chance to really give it my all - hopefully now is the time to ramp it up! Obviously with the skills I acquired, I have ideas aplenty - just need to get cracking I suppose.

    Thanks,

Well done on becoming Full Time! It's a scary thing but I am sure you will look forward to the future. Maybe set up a blog, also sell a report for free or a few $ as a WSO and I am sure you can gain a list that way. Social media is also another excellent way to gain a list but remember to build your relationship between you and your list.

Thanks Liam, good ideas. I am mighty intrigued by the WSO aspect to this forum, looks hugley popular - ill check it out.

Whats the weather like in Scotland!? Im heading that way in August for the first time.

At the moment it is dry where I am but was raining off and on yesterday. Another rainy summer I see ahead. But make sure to search the forums their is loads of information on traffic, list building etc etc but remember to use your time wisely though and try not to get “overloaded”.

@Liam - will do, it's gonna be hard not to get overloaded, I can tell! At least it's not gonna be a snowy summer!

@Web Tempest - Ill check the WSO sectin out for sure, it looks interesting. It cant be as simple as creating a WSO and watching it fly off the shelves though right!?

Will be handy to have examples of your SEO work lined up. If you don't want to reveal past projects (or can't), start working on some new projects that you can use as examples in the future.

Yeah, this is a big one. The company I worked for made me sign an NDA, meaning I can't use them as examples, which is a huge shame because I did things with them that would probably convince anyone of my ability.

I have a couple of others that could be quite powerful and have recently requested some testimonials so ill get them up when my site is ready.

        Thanks for the advice!

I think you should get a site set up explaining your SEO business a bit more so that people can actually see you have an online presence.

There are lots of warriors selling stuff in the warriors for hire but i tend to go with people who actually have a professional looking company site with contact details which to me is important.

Also add skype to your profile, that way you can seal a sale over chat by showing people you know what your talking about when it comes to SEO.

If you need any help setting up a professional business site then i can help with that.

    Good luck.

One of my next projects is using this tactic. It's good to have multiple sources of income, I also develop software and freelance. It isn't difficult but one really has to be focused and organized.

      Good luck to you!

      Cheers Rob
Cheers Rob, I have thought about the VA to look after a lot of the leg work. Im a little nervous about leaving it in the hands of someone else though, even if it's just a bit of bookmarking. That's something ill have to get over if I want to grow I guess!

      Thanks for the advice.

Hey dude. All I can say is - GO FOR IT.

There will be days where you'll probably crap your dacks, and income will get low - but stick with it. Once the money starts coming, you'll never go back. I quit my job back in 2007

Seeing as though you're starting an seo business, you might be interested in checking out my seo business kit in my sig.
