My question is: What makes a great marketer? and what are the common skills they all share?

The point of the question is to find out what skills you really need to develop make it online.

    I think what make a success online is persistency and a willingness to learn, once you have those two things its really a case of following through with your action plan. One thing i would say to all newbies or people thinking of starting out is to learn how to list build and then keep building that list always always look to generate more leads and names onto that list, that way you keep a steady supply of customers coming to you

    You have to be creative, willing to work your a** off and be able to learn from your mistakes and constantly refine your strategy. The most important "skill", in my opinion, is not quitting even when facing one failure after another.

    A great marketer is someone who understands and values the relationship between people and products and/or services. If you can truly grasp that concept than you are light years ahead of everyone else.

    Everything else is ancillary. You can have every skill in the world, but if you don't understand the relationship between your target market and the product/service you are marketing you will struggle.

    Of course there are other big picture concepts within marketing (branding for example) but understanding how to properly exploit relationships between people and products/services (and even ideas) is what separates the big boys from the less experienced.

    I think DEDICATION and DISCIPLINE is what makes a great marketer. Not every single thing we do works, but if you get discouraged because maybe one form of marketing didn't work for you and you give up then there's no way you'll be able to succeed. You need to take everything as an obstacle and that way you'll figure out what works for you and what doesn't. Over time, you'll succeed in your own way and there's always people here who can help also.
