Video to Change Formatting

I need some assistance changing my video format from '.MTS' to .wmv so I can edit it.
Google gives me "free" downloads but after you adjust all the settings and click on 'convert', they ask for $29 to $59 dollars.

I'm working with XP.

Any free help on line or in the forum here to convert my first video?

Thanks for the help,

Go to Google and type "mts to wmv converter." You should be able to find free and paid converter programs to do the work for you. I do not have a program that I personally recommend. Perhaps someone else has a suggestion for one.

I use AVS Video Converter (no affiliate) to convert my .mts files. It gives you multiple options and formats to convert to.

I tried that, got to the end and needed to pay $39 to finish.

Anybody know of a free converter?

      Thanks!

I tried this, Emicsoft, and although it's a 'free' download, it's $35 to convert the file.

          Thanks anyway for the help.

AVS is also $39 after 'free' download.

          Any other ideas, please?

Super is free, and can convert pretty much every format out there. Their website is a mess, so getting to the actual DL link takes a bit of hunting. But it's a great little program.

Brandon is quite right - the Super website is a nightmare. Here is the link to the actual download page on their website:-

              SUPER © videos

then scroll down to the bottom of that page and find the link that says:-

Download SUPER © setup file from our 5th dedicated server

              Hope that helps.

                Thank you Brandon and Kate,
Super is also $29 to convert after download but I appreciate the help.

If anyone needs to convert I used WinFX for free and the interface is easy.

Thanks to all and best wishes,

If you need to convert the high-definition file, use a third-party video converter. A handful of companies offer free software that allows you to convert an MTS file into a variety of formats.

More information hope you can help:
MTS converter for Mac & Windows.
