Yes, you can go through photoshop. If you're looking for animated banners in professional quality, you've to use a software application like flash.

I use photoshop but you can get GIMP for free at gimp.com

I would suggest that anybody involved in promoting online should try to learn the basics of image editing. It can come in handy

I just noticed you said you had photoshop. Click file > new > change the dimensions to 125 x 125 for the width/height and click OK.

You now have a blank image that is 125px x 125px to create your image from. There are too many ways to proceed from that point forward to describe here....but that's how you would start the process.

Nothing to see here folks.....move along.

I often use XHeader which has a free version and is really quick and easy to use. Admittedly, you don't have all the bangs and whistles, but as I say great for quick jobs and the quality is good. If you upgrade to the pro version you have .png options for saving your graphics, and not just the .jpg.

Obviously, Photoshop and Gimp are great. I have even used Paint in combination with XHeader... but really that is the 'non-techie' option, for people who don't want to work out the ins and outs of Photoshop and Gimp.

Of course Fiverr is also a great option too...

I also use IrfanView for quick resizing of images. I do find it doesn't work very well for changing images from .jpg to .png

When I've tried with different programs the pic I've taken of
    the offer comes out blurry.

Is there a tutorial or some setting in photoshop to keep it from
    coming out blurry.

Use the "crop" tool to make your desired image into a perfect square.

Use the "resize" command to make it 125 by 125.

As far as how to get your desired image,

    GO TO ART SCHOOL.

I am sick to death of people who think anything you can do on a computer is something they can learn. Learning web design, graphic design, programming, or system administration is something that people spend YEARS learning. And if you don't come to the subject with an aptitude, a passion, and significant practice, you are not going to get very far trying to replace a professional.

      Open up Photoshop

      Click FILE then New

Set the file size to 125 pixels by 125 pixels

Either have the background set to transparent or white. Either will do.

If you wish to fill it with a different color then you can then go to EDIT and FILL (pick your color)

Click the T on the left tool bar (text tool) and the font you want. You can resize the font. Write whatever you wish.

To add image open up the image you want to use and reduce the size. Here you need to be sure that the length or width do not fall below 125 pixels. If one side is longer or higher you may need to adjust it slightly once it goes onto the background image you created. Hit SELECT and ALL. then EDIT>COPY>

Go to the background image and - EDIT and PASTE

Sometimes you can just drag the image right over.

You may loose some resolution depending on the format of the image. You can either reduce (edit, resize, bicubic sharpener) or FILTER - SHARPEN.

There are lots of tutorials on YouTube and also sites which specialize in demonstrating Photoshop tutorials. I have used them many times.

I believe it's always good to know how to do things yourself even if its not your forte. Photoshop can be a lot of fun to create various things and the more you use it the more you'll get used to making things in it.

You can also check youtube. There are numerous videos for this purpose. And use Photoshop CS2 . It is more advance and easy to use.

      I hope this helps!

I agree with @LynneCarey's suggestion to use XHeader.

Their free version, www.xHeader.com, comes with several banner/header templates that can be resized. In addition, you can create a blank 125 x 125 banner. Then, you can add multiple text fields plus place image files on the banner. Good luck!

In 2011 i have been doing a lot of media buying.

I outsource this and even my banner creation. Everyone tries to do it themselves, but I use 2 guys on fiverr. If you cant do this yourself, I would suggest you do this. The fiverr guys i use are insane, and their quality of work is very high.

Hire someone to get it done for you. It takes skills to do an art thing. You can learn of course if your interest is there and if you have time.

I'm guessing that 125 x 125 must be a standard Wordpress theme sidebar size, or something?

I often notice that the vendors of the ClickBank products I promote include 125 x 125 among the little banners they've produced for affiliates ... (I'm not a Wordpress user, and it's a size I never need: I like 170 x 170, and 170 x various other numbers, myself - which nobody ever has).

I have my own way of making the little banners I need, which wouldn't be everyone's cup of Lapsang Souchong, but I'm a technophobic incompetent and I'm not really going to announce in detail how I make them because everyone will laugh at me (more than they do already, I mean).

But it does involve using this site: Resize, Shrink, Sketch, Blur, Grayscale and Crop Images or photos online which is absolutely brilliant for incompetent technophobes like me, to resize stuff ... and it's Lexyproof: if I can cope with it, absolutely anyone can.

Nearly anyone with Photoshop can make any size ad they want, but not everyone can make a good looking ad that converts. It's more than just placing some text on a pic and sizing it to 125x125.

to change the size of an image keeping the definition, the best way I found is to export it and change the scale there.

I like to use Paint. Photoshop is great and you can make really great looking banners. They are very slick and professional.

But, I have found the banners that almost look homemade seem to have a higher CTR. For this reason I like Paint. I can make a text only banner in just a few minutes or you can ad a picture with only a few click.

You can design the banner in photoshop and then use image ready to animate it.
Keep the text to a minimum and make sure it stands out on the site.
