Living in an Internet Marketing Bubble can be bad for business

It's amazing how we live in this IM bubble sometimes and we tend to forget there is a whole world out there who know absolutely nothing about optin-forms, affiliate marketing, and all that good stuff.

Case in point...I have several eBay niche stores and I've always put a contact form--I think it makes the site seem more friendly. So I get these folks asking me questions about "my products". Do you carry this and that...will you be stocking this and that. They really have no clue that I'm displaying eBay auctions and I stock nothing.

I see posts here where people write that the market is over saturated and everyone knows these marketing tactics and that is simply wrong.

There is a huge world out there and the percent of folks who are warrior savvy is tiny so don't let that from stop you entering a niche. Even if you think--everyone knows about this--they don't. A lot fish in the water. Go get them!

    Hi Alan,

You're absolutely right! Also, every new day there's absolutely 1000's of new internet users and they have no idea of what eBay is.

If people think the "IM" market is over saturated, they don't know how to do good marketing. The internet JUST STARTED and people already think its saturated. lol, lol, lol

Hehe...I target whatever is saturated...cause that is where the money is.
        The more saturated the better...

I agree Alan. I have been internet savvy since the 90's and have tried earning money from the internet for 4 or 5 years. It's only over the last 6 months or so that I have 'discovered' this IM process and started using it to my advantage. There are definately still plenty of fish out there.

haha - the more I read about online / offline marketing - the more it reminds me of Harry Potter!

You have the wizarding world where all things are possible and magic abounds every day - and of course we have the eternal struggle of good and evil...

    AND THEN

    we have the Muggles!

Am I reading too much Harry Potter?? (Never!)

Thats just the real world for you. Magic, good, and evil.. part of our everyday lives.. maybe thats why people feel so compelled and addicted to harry potters story? I watched the first movie and that was it. pretty cool movie.

I'm not a Potter fan (I haven't read any of the books and I only watched the first movie) so I had to Google "muggles" but very good analogy.

Go into markets where your potential customers are already spending wads of cash. That way the hard work (finding or creating the market) is already done for you. All you have to do is put your product or service in front of the spending spree.

If you look at other markets besides IM/MM, like cellphones or even computers, most people want the newest stuff. They want to be on the cutting edge or be one shiny new gadget ahead of their neighbor. Their old cellphone/s still work just fine and so does their old computer/s.

IM/MM saturation is no different, it's actually a good thing - people treating the products as consumables that they have to buy over and over again just to have the latest shiny new thing to brag to their friends about = $$$.

Newbies have no business trying to market how to make money products. Stick with other niches and increase your chances by 10X.
