Word Press or Blogger

I hope you guys don't get tired of me here lately. As I've said in earlier posts I've been away for about 3 months (and I didn't make any money before eiter :0( and my computer also crashed so I'm bascially starting from scratch---which may be better anyway.........

So, I see lots of people on the forum talking about a Word Press blog. Is that better than a blog through blogger? What's the difference?

Thanks muc!

I would go for Wordpress if you hosting the blog yourself as its easy to use as is blogger but I find it better for SEO. Also the new features and pluggin are good so it enhances the earning potential if that is a aim.

PM if you want some details.

    Best regards

    Matt

Wordpress is much, much better for many reasons when you have your own site.

Blogger is one of the better choices if you don't.

    Hope This Helps!!

On the assumption that you're looking for a free hosting platform then this is the difference between WordPress and Blogger:

You cannot use a free WordPress.com blog for commercial purposes whereas you can with Blogger.

If you're looking for a content management solution (i.e. you want to host your blog on your own domain) then a Wordpress blog beats a Blogger one hands down because of all the additional plugins you can use on your blog -- and yes you can use this blog for your comercial aspirations.

I agree with TL, I have both wordpress and blogger, which are hosted by them, So as far monetization goes blogger is a lock. Now as far as features and customization goes wordpress got it hands down. It's just that if you use their free hosted blog, you can't run adsense, kontera, amazon or any application that uses java script.

    hope this helps,

    Terry

That helps a bunch guys. Thanks. I do have my own website hosted by godaddy, although it in't up and running yet so I guess I should head over to wordpress.

Also, another dumb queston-what is a "plug in" and what do you do with them?

IMHO wordpress is the only way to go with a blog. As long as its self hosted. Plugins allow you to extend the basic functionality of your blog. With WP 2.7 you can search and install plugins right from the control panel which is a plus.

I use blogger, wordpress, joomla, and some others. From my experience, they are all the same once you figure them out and know what you are doing. However, if you are going to buy a domain and host your own, then go with wordpress (unless you are doing a big site, then joomla is better). If you are not going to host it yourself, then I prefer blogger.

Yes, yes, a wordpress blog is much better for many reasons, the primary one is search engines have a much easier time to crawl and index your blog...therefore better search engine rankings. The extra plug-ins for wordpress blogs help as well.

blogger is not bad though and is good if you are looking for free hosting.

Wordpress all the way since you are hosting yourself. google loves it and you have alot of options with the plugins.

Plugins are free and you upload them via ftp to your wordpress blog.

Such plugins as 'All in ONe SEO pack" help with SEO for people finding you on goolge. YOu can download free plugins - just google 'wordpress plugins' and you will see a whole bunch.

FTP - you can get a free copy of filezilla.

I think there are free wordpress courses you can familiarize yourself with, it may seem daunting at first, but it is sorta like riding a bike - once you get the hang of it - it is so easy to get a wordpress blog with key plugins going - that you can get one up in 15 minutes!

    Good luck!

wordpress or blogger? How about neither! Godaddy has a new third party blog system which I use, and no I don't have an affiliate with them.

You can check stats, and everything is automatic. easy to upload audio and video. You can check out my blog site below and see how I'[ve adapted it to use audio!

All depends what you want to do. I only began toying with wordpress recently. So i can not say much about it except for as soon as i uploaded an aff link they closed the blog down pretty much instantly. So if your going for free, go with blogger. Maybe use a free one at first then over time get somone from the forums to create a nice template for you and purchase your own domain

I honestly have to go with Wordpress. I think someone might have mentioned that it is VERY Google friendly.

Ping a blog and in just a few moments in google's search engine in the top ten on the first page.

I also like the flexibility and control that Wordpress gives me over other blogging pages.

Wordpress anytime, man. It's not like you can't make great stuff with blogger; there are a lot of great blogs out there working on blogger, but WP is a lot more professional, flexible and easy to use. Virtually anyone, with no programming or design knowledge, can build an awesome blog, maybe profitable too.
