First Website Dilemma

Hello Warriors.

I can use some of your expertise regarding my first website that I am in the process of building.

(For the record I am a newbie in Internet Marketing. Haven't made my first dollar online yet)

The idea was to launch an affiliate website. Researched a few clickbank products, researched keywords, and bought a domain related to the keywords.

Wrote only two articles regarding the niche I selected and published it on the wordpress website with a nice minimalistic theme.

And voila, to my surprise, Mr. Big G decided to place me on the position #6 (on first page) for the selected keywords. (Possibly due to the keywords being present in the domain). No backlinks at this stage.

The website can very easily get on #1 position by throwing in a few backlinks, a little more on-page seo, article marketing etc.

I'm confused  whether I should make it a website just consisting clickbank producst or make it an informative website with a lot of useful articles about the niche and then using adsense or cpa etc.

So my question is what should a newbie do with this website. Affiliate marketing with clickbank products or adsense or cpa.

I'll appreciate your advice.

Thanks.

IMO, focus on only one product. If you add adsense, then your main purpose is lost.

Do on-page and off page SEO and make affiliate commissions.

Why not test each one and see which one converts better.

Sounds great, do you think promoting one product is better than promoting many products related to the niche

Is that a good idea for a newbie?

Go with the useful angle. Just putting CB prods on there won't help you a bit or give you an edge. Putting good quality, human readable content will.

I want to go for the useful angle, with quality informative articels but I'm not sure whether adsense is the right choice.

Just a word of warning...google is aware of your browsing activity and places sites you regularly visit higher up the search results for YOU, but not anyone else.

Have you seen the same results on a different browser/computer?

On a different browser, Yes, but not on a different computer.

But nice advice though, I will check it on a different computer on different IP.

Firstly, congratulations on getting so high in Google with your first website, that is a great achievement.

If you are getting some good traffic to your website, another thing you could do is to build a list.

Depending on the niche you are in, you could offer visitors a free report on the niche that appeals to them, in return they will sign up.

You could use Aweber for this.

This would help you to retain a good deal of your visitors, who you can send out more information to.

One reason for this is that visitors will not always buy from your site on their first visit, it often takes two or three visits before they purchase, so with a list you can build up a good report with them and you will gain their trust.

Another good reason for making a list is that once they have purchased one item from you, you will be able to offer them more items on a regular basis, sometimes over many months and years - so you will have created a successful business!

    Hope this helps.

At this point I'd begin testing as others have already mentioned. I'd also not get wrapped up in trying to decide which advertising methods gonna make you the most money just yet.

Focus on building an informational site around your niche, if the niche is large enough. Keep building great content at regular intervals Google loves this and will begin rewarding you with additional rankings for keywords you didn't even think about.

Be sure to do keyword research to identify keywords for those additional pages and then build the posts around those keywords.

After that you'll need to linkbuild, linkbuilding is essential to top rankings. Focus on high quality links too. There are quite a few services that provide High PR links or you can try and get them yourself. One way that I suggest manually getting links is by guest blogging on blogs with high PR. If writing content isn't a problem for you then this method can attract not only nice quality inbound links but also targeted traffic.

Finally make sure that you are building an email list from the start, you may be surprised that people will actually sign up! Building a high quality list from the start is a great way to monetize your traffic for months and years to come.

Build some backlinks, get to the top positions on Google. Then start trying out different things. Make sure that you are building a list all in the time, and then start testing out all the different monetization methods you can think of.

You might find something is super simple and can make you a lot of money. It all depends on your niche.

      P.S. Congratulations!
