Wordpress or HTML/WYSIWYG?

I'm thinking of designing a new website but am confused as to whether to use a Wordpress blog instead of normal website.

A lot of people rave about Google loving blogs, and they're easy to create, but I have a lot more control/flexibility when creating my own sites.

Does it really make a difference to getting ranked with Google whether or not it's a blog/standard website?

The site only requires your standard features and few pages so it's nothing complicated. I'm also concerned that if it's a blog, will I have to regularly add content to it? which isn't what the site really needs.

What would you recommend I go with?
#html or wysiwyg #wordpress

The nice thing about WP is that it's formatted well so the search engines can find everything they're looking for. And if you're trying to rank in the SE's then you're probably going to create a lot of content to put on the site. WP is hands down the best if that's the case.

If you're just making a 3 page site though, it's probably not necessary unless you're going to be adding content to it in the future. Even then, if you get your small site made then want to add a blog later, you can always install one at yourdomain.com/blog.

WP is definitely awesome but it's not for everything.

If you like building your own sites, do that. Do what works for you, not necessarily what everyone else claims to be doing.

WP has its disadvantages, certainly. One of the things I dislike is the need to update to the latest version of WP every few months.

It might only need a few pages now, but that might not always be the case.

With WP, you have advantae of having a built in promotional capability in your blog posts and your updatable RSS feed.

With most HTML sites, if you want a page to look differently than others it is merely a matter of designing a different looking page. But with WP, this is a little more complicated depending on what theme you are using.

If you already know HTML and CSS, that might be better for you. If you don't, perhaps WP might be your better choice right now.

If you are looking for easy way, go on WordPress. even on small site you will need things like: contact form, privacy policy... and in WordPress it's only requiring plugin installation.

Even on small site you will want to track your traffic, in WordPress you install plugin and config it once, instead of adding code to each page.

I now use wp for all my websites. I can design websites from scratch but it's so much easier to find a decent looking theme and adapt it to do what you want it to do. With a few clicks I can add All In One SEO and Google XML Sitemaps to make it SEO friendly.

I make my wordpress static pages so it feels like a website - not a blog. I use all pages and no posts. That's just a personal rpefernece of mine. I like my wp websites to look like websites - not blogs.

Wordpress all the way! Especially if you're planning to add a lot of content.

The Google blog loving thing only applies if:

    1) You update your content regularly
    2) Your on-page SEO is spot on
    3) You build a lot of inbound links

In other words, in reality it's the same as for everybody else.
