Blog with a Forum Section or Not

I have a blog that gets people commenting and asking questions which is great for them coming back to see replies and for long tail keywords as the comments are shown in the meta description I see on SERP's

But I was wondering what it would be like to include a forum section on the blog. Just like warrior forum has enthusiastic followers would a forum section on a blog be a good move. Some negatives I can see would be:
  1. Decrease in Adsense ads clicked on posts
  2. Decrease in comments on posts
  3. Hassel of moderating forum users and spam

Positives could be an increase in organic traffic from all the conversations people would have on the forum and internal linking to posts on the blog.

What's your thoughts?

    it really depends on the subject of your site and how you are monetizing, if you're trying to build more interaction and a community then a forum is definitely the way to go but if you're worried about keeping people on pages simply for adsense clicks then it may not be worth the effort, especially if you're already getting a good level of interaction through the comments section.

    I think you should try to get a forum going and see how it works for you

    make sure you put ads all over it too

    it will definitely add value to your site if people actually start joining, and how you monetize that added value is up to you

      Clearly you know the Pros and Cons of adding a forum. I've seen <3000 Alexa Rank blogs having unused forums!

      So, if you feel the kind of traffic you are getting would have things to discuss in a group, go ahead and add a forum to the blog.
