Alternative Permalink Structure for Increasing Traffic - Anyone Tried?

I accidentally found this WF blog post searching for something completely different - but after reading, I realized the permalink structure suggested was something I'd not seen so far in my IM career.

Anyone tried Warrior Serifshorg's technique?

I might test it out on a few neglected sites and see if I get increased traffic from this technique alone.

Yeah this is wordpress 101 - if you're not doing this then you certainly should be. It's not like your going to see an increase in traffic on older posts or anything although you might get some crawl errors from changing the link structure on previously indexed posts.

What was new to me was the structure
      /%category%/%postname%/%post_id%.htm

I usually just put this under my WP Permalink custom structure
      /%postname%

I've been using this one ever since I started blogging a few years ago.

Not sure how much of a difference other permalink structures would make to traffic - I haven't actually tried any others.

The only SEO advantage this structure may have is when it comes to keywords density because you'd have your post keywords on the category and on the post name. But I don't know how much difference that would make in terms of traffic.

Hi heidi, I have played around with the wordpress permalink structure before. The wordpress default permalink structure is not SEO friendly. If you want to rank an article/post it needs to be targetted and one way of doing that is by adding the post name at the end of your domain name. It can be achieved by manually adding /%postname%/ in the section provided.
To do that you need to log on to your wordpress admin panel then click on "Settings" > "Permalinks" > Place /%postname%/ in the "Custom Settings" area then Save settings (Remember to click on the custom setting radio button as well). I hope it helps. Is that the answer you were looking for?

I have always just used /%postname% and never seen a reason to do differently honestly it works just fine.
