If you have an online business selling a product or service where most of your marketing efforts are online then you are an internet marketer.

My product is specifically set up for those who market and sell products online. (Aunt Jackie, who runs the family geneology website doesn't care about backlinks; she simply gives the family link out to everybody she wants to see it.) So yes, I sell to other internet marketers. That's because my product helps them to sell their own products.

Yes I think there are quite a bit of IMers who are capitilizing off other IMErs......... Is it wrong ?? Well, not if it is sincerely helping those IMers in a productive, no-nonsense way.
    I say go for it.

Personally, it is not my cup of tea !! Its a much tougher Market to be successful at. Look for regular joes who are looking to buy a particular product and are in dire need to solve a problem that the have. Like Potholes on their face, erectile dysfunction , unusually hard bowel movements, etc..etc..You get my drift

I believe that an internet marketer doesn't have to be selling exclusively to the internet marketing niche. A marketer whose niche is in say, real estate, still has to have Internet marketing knowledge to succeed. Therefore, if you are selling to internet marketers, you are selling to much more than the Internet marketing niche alone.

That is why most products, and I certainly do this in mine, make sure that it is stressed that the tips and techniques are applicable in any niche. Including the unusually hard bowel movement niche mentioned above. Now there's one I had never thought of before!

Certainly. As a IMer, I need many little to big things that I need to buy from other IMers. Same way other IMers need my product(s). But that doesn't mean I (we) can't extend selling to people that are not IMers.

One of my friends called few months back who opened up a local business. He doesn't know a thing about IM. He asked me to develop a simple web site for him, just to enter this web site url in his visiting card. First time I registered an email on behalf of him with hotmail.

As IMer, many have international clients.

So sky is the limit for selling.

Thank you for all your replies!

Becos to me, it seems like it is profitable only if you sell products targeted at IMers.. From previous experience, seems like it's quite difficult to earn some profits, if any at all, by selling 'usual' products like wine or books, etc...

      Not true at all.

There are literally tens of thousands of untapped niches out
there on the internet. The truth is that most of them are eager
for top quality information that solves a problem or answers a question.

I sold more than $100K of an info product on CD to a market that
had absolutely nothing to do with internet marketing. Many Warriors
have done the same, or better.

All the products who achieve massive gravity within a few days are being promoted by other biggies.

There are lots of internet marketers out there making big bucks selling real products and info in other niches... You just dont see nearly as many of them in IM forums regularly because they are running their own biz or participating in the niche forums of people in their niche so that they can make sales there. The free IM forums always attract people looking to make a sale to the newbie IM'er.
The only problem I have with it is when someone is claiming to make X with online marketing but has never really sold anything outside of the IM or make money niches.

I do market to the IM market somewhat, but I make a lot more in other niches. I really only market to other IMers because, though my journey, I've ended up with knowledge and skills that could help the community. It's not my main money-making venture.

That said, for people who's main income stream IS marketing to other IMers...more power to you! If your information, products, software, and services are solid - I want them!
