Outdated IM Strategies?

It looks like we are heading into a new chapter in IM. Where many people are reluctant to give up on old strategies that don't seem to work anymore.

This is also a great opportunity for fresh methods, ideas, and new WSO's helping people find what IS working in 2011.

I'm curious as to what strategies are pretty much dead in 2011 Post Panda.
Article Spinning.. maybe for example?

What IS working still or that is new in 2011?

Direct linking to offers on Google is pretty much dead.

Also, content farming sites like hubpages, squidoo lenses and even blogger are old methods od making sales IMO

I'm not really doing anything new. For years, the majority of my marketing has been through article syndication marketing, and it continues to be the main method for competing in the hotest and most lucrative niches.

Around here I see at least 2 blogger blogs in top 10 of one of the most lucrative niches EVER.

So... calling it old (outdated) is at least wrong And to be honest, over here (IM Forum) I see wrong advices each and everyday regarding IM strategies.

What happens is some people just don't know (or don't have the time) to achieve success with some techniques.

Article marketing for example. You'll find a handful of people doing it as I type with success...

But many people say it's dead...

      Food for thought.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

I have 2-3 squidoo pages with affiliate offers making about $600/month. Took me about 30 min to set up each of them.

I don't think their rankings dropped after panda.

I wouldn't say article spinning is dead, but it's certainly not as effective as it used to be, especially for generating traffic.

As for what's definitely working, I'd have to say that I really like social marketing. I think it's really starting to come into its own and will continue to provide positive SEO benefit while enabling you to maintain a strong connection with your customers.

social Media is definitely the new adition to internet marketing. Relationships building are more important than ever. Those who succeed in building strong relationships and offer value at the same time have nothing to fear. I know people who run their entire business on social media platforms and are doing very well indeed. How do I know

Social Media is not new . People have been talking and interacting online long before the term social media term was coined . It is not new . Except for innovative automation in software almost nothing is new under the sun .

Article marketing is not dead . It is still very much alive . The whole Panda crack is to crack down on the quality . Articles have been there since Bill Gates started and will continue long after he is dead . You just have to do it right .Provide high quality content that works and is helpful to your audience

I retest most things I do every year just to see if it has any effect. Thinks like shorten or length titles, change keyword densitys and changing internal links. I have found the higher you site is the smaller the effect on any of there changes. Having lots of different keyword phrases still seems to work better than just repeating the main keyword phrases!

Don't try BlueFart methods :-) that's for DAMN sure.

Other than that, I'd say direct linking to Google, and other grey-hat methods that are quicky debunked. Offer networks are constantly scrubbing their clicks/conversions looking for any way NOT to give you money it seems. It comes down to making sure that in this day in age, you are following all of the rules.

But besides that, the oldest methods in the book are still the ones that are the most successful! Chances are if you have been writing articles since 2008, you are sitting pretty right now. Stay true to what works!

I've been buying space ads in newspapers and magazines in my niche. Best traffic I've ever had.

Also doing ad buys from major networks, JV/Affiliate deals, and traffic exchanges. The simple stuff that's always worked still works. When you get into the fancy stuff (and I've fallen victim to that more than I'd ever care to admit) it seems like it works great at first, but then you end up giving everything back when it stops.

Best advice is just to focus on old school direct selling. Read Clayton Makepeace's blog (the best free education I ever had in my entire life). Buy Drayton Bird's books, which will set you back about $10 each on Amazon, and buy John Carlton's Simple Writing System (IMHO Claytons Desktop Copy Coach is better, but you can't find it anymore). Carlton's Kickass Secrets of a Marketing Rebel is also great. Read Halberts old newsletters.

I find that when I just focus on on school selling everything else pretty much falls into place. Nothing fancy dancy.

I think the most important of all,
is that the strategies are working,
it doesn't matter if it is old.
Like email marketing, seo, article marketing, etc.
These are all old but working strategies.
Don't look for another shining objects,
    is not worthwhile.
