How to cloak affiliate links by domain?

Hi warriors,

As i know, one of the best technique to cloak affiliate links is to buy domains and redirect to them. Please give me more information about this. I appreciate all the step by step instructions

It's supposed that i want to promote 10 products. Must i buy 10 domains as well?
And must i buy hosting for using this technique?

Thanks

Domain redirections are best done on your domain registrar.

For example on NameCheap, you go to Manage Domains->Modify Domain->URL Forwarding

I've done this with sub-domains before and worked pretty well. I had my own hosting at the time so I don't know if you could do this without having hosting.

Now I don't even mess with redirecting domain names. URL shortening services are much easier to use like; bitly, tinyurl and etc...

If you're using WP, then you should checkout Pretty Links.

I agree with his opinion. Url shortening services like bitly are more beneficial as you receive full data of your incoming traffic.

The whole idea of doing this is to "look professional".

If you'll excuse my saying so, I think the opposite.

The best link-tracker/forwarder/url-shortener to use is really any one that you own and control yourself.

It's not so good to rely on the continued availability, goodwill, reliability and changeable terms of service of any third-party URL-shortening/tracking service. There were a few hundred Warriors here last year who would have told you the same (and in fact did) when all their Tinyurl links suddenly disappeared overnight!

That principle's the same, whether it's a Libyan one or one owned by Google.

Have a look at this recent post on Ben Metcalfe's blog: The .ly domain space to be considered unsafe | :Ben Metcalfe Blog.

Really, it's good to be in control of your own business and not dependent on unnecessary third-party services and their reliability and longevity.

Many people here use these things, but that doesn't make them "good" ... nor "safe", unfortunately.

If you talk to a turkey who gets well fed every day and well looked after for 3 years plus, before being killed for Thanksgiving, he'll tell you on every day of his 999-day life that everything's absolutely fine, because that's his experience at that point. Try talking to him on the 1000th day of his "life". The problem with using services like the one you're asking about is that you can't tell what day of their life it is (and neither can they).

"Well, I've been using it for 998 days and I've never had a problem".

Whatever you're using these things for, there are far better, far safer solutions readily available.

There's "PrettyLink", and php redirects, and all sorts of things like that, for this purpose.

I use a $1 .info domain-name, myself. It leaves me in control, without needing software or anything technical/complicated.

This is a good route if you don't plan on renewing. What I did was get a .info and wrote my own php redirect script. The meta tag redirect could also work with this.

I got a domain like getsomemore .info (not my url! just an example)

Added a sub directory called "at".

Put my script in there with my database of ref codes and keywords that were to be associated with the aff links.

Then my final link would be getsomemore .info/at/godaddyoffer

          Worked pretty well.

Using these services can't guarantee the affiliate links won't be stolen. I need your more info about this.

Most internet gurus will recommend getting a domain name if you want to look professional. Most visitors won't click on a URL (Uniform Resource Locator...web site link) 6 miles long and especially if it looks like a referral link. For some reason they think they can get it cheaper if they go directly to web site by cutting off a portion of the referral link. Al

I would also suggest using sub-domains. Buy one domain and create sub-domains for the offers you want to promote. I use these types of links in my mailing lists.

    IE:
    31DayFatLoss.webberz.net
    ArticleMarketingRobot.webberz.net
    iContact.webberz.net
    WordpressSecuritySystem.webberz.net

I tested your provided sub-domain links, but all of them redirected to the original sales pages. So, i want to create a domain name which reflects to the affiliate link and it is different from the original salepage . Can sub-domain satisfy my demands?

Yes, I could have built custom websites at each sub-domain instead of just directing to the affiliate page if that's what your asking. As a matter of fact you could use one sub-domain to build a custom website promoting the product and create a second sub-domain to redirect to the affiliate page.

You can make a sub-domain do pretty much anything you could do with a domain itself.

If you are really concerned about protecting your affiliate links you could add link cloaking to the links. www.LinkCloak.net

You can use a single domain for as many offers as you want. Just create a different page for each one. This is the redirect I use. Just put your own info in and you're good to go.

You can redirect it from your domain registrar without needing hosting but it will not cloak the link and the affiliate id will show in the address bar after landing on the site...

I use a piece of software that is actually kinda old - it's from 2002 and it's called "affiliate defender" and it's by Jimmy Brown - what it does it create a script that you paste into an html file and upload to your site.

It allows you to cloak the link like this "yoursite.com/product" and it will stay in the address bar this way so your commission is safe

You can probably find this product by searching on Google. Oh and you will need hosting for this method to work.

    Good Luck

For the products that lead to a clickbank purchase page, what's to stop a person from logging on to clickbank and buying the product from their own link?
