I gotta share this...

I just invested in animoto (it is so cool)

Look what a complete newbie managed to do in a few minutes
The implications for using this are pretty startling to say the least!!

Pretty cool, Kim. Amazing the power that all these new tools give us. I haven't messed with Animoto before. Does it always produce that "powered by" logo at the end?

Yeah, I checked out their site. It seems that you can get a commercial license to use it annually and that gives you the option of removing their branding. - Russ

I got the commercial license, the branding is worse if u don't

Hmm I wonder if you can remove it altogether. (I'm still exploring it)

Download the video and cut the ending in Movie Maker but keep the sound in tact. Then insert slide of your choice to advertise your website link.

Apart from being nice and a fun thing to do, the video marketing potential for something like this is huge. Different video...different keywords and so on.

Thanks for posting Kim. I'll check animoto out.

Upload text graphics... and assemble a trailer of your product. You can remove the logo at the end by downloading the video you create and editing it in Windows Movie maker. Just edit the video and leave the sound in tact...

Producing product video trailers is powerful so don't exclude something based on YOUR assumptions.

      Hey Kim, quickie question.

I took a quick look at the site and from what I am understanding, this is a
service they give you, not a piece of software you download, correct?

If one were to have something like Camtasia, where they could create
their own slide shows (granted it's probably more work) then they wouldn't
necessarily need something like this. Also correct?

Just wanted to clarify what this thing actually is and if there are alternatives.

        Thats right Steve,

To be honest I would imagine many people would prefer Camtasia, but for those who arn't very savvy technically this looks as though its a darn good starting point

        Cheers

          Hi Steven,

James B Allen provided a system to utilise this when it first came out about a year ago in a cheap WSO he did with 6 other systems - watch that guy, and those other guys in Japan, as they are obviously smart for -

          a) living there

          b) choosing Japanese wives. (I'm not sure if James has, but I'm pretty sure the HamsterKing has - and one of my best friends has too. And he's one smart geezer.)

...and they are obviously on the ball when it comes to new stuff. I wish James would make more stuff because I would buy it (hint).

          ........

I see it as a beginner's tool for replacing a video editing program more than camtasia.

What it provides the user is -

          a) quick production
          b) a choice of licensed music which is synchronised with the movement/change of photos
          c) a range of special effects that are applied to the photos. You tell it to 'do it's stuff'. You view the outcome. if you aren't happy, you tell it to do it's stuff again and it uses different effects
          d) you can choose 'primary' photos that it will show more of, and put that centrally while it revolves the 'secondary' photos around it/them

One good use for it is if you were into producing videos mainly for SEO, rather than for the viewers pleasure - in which case you might want quantity over quality, for submitting with SENUKE for example to get backlinks from your videos. The reason it's good is because it's fast.

          Yes it's web-based.

          HTH

          Hi Kim,

I haven't played with it since they added the ability to add text. Your second one (the ebook) came out really well. (The first one was fine too!)

Have you read about the 'call to action' button here -

Thanks - that's kind of you, but I don't agree! I'm not distracted by saving peoples' lives and stuff in a seperate career, and it just happens to be one of the things I've looked into a bit. But you do 'proper stuff' like running membership sites and dealing with IM people and all that - I take the easy way out . You could explain all that side of things a lot better than I ever could.

Am I right in thinking I've seen other holiday photos from you before with a different application (just using a video tool or something), or am I confusing you with a different female warrior? Did you post some others a few months ago or am I losing my marbles again?

              Cheers.

Steven, there are alternatives ... even on your computer, called MS Movie Maker. Ok, it is just for very simple stuff, but if you want to do something like Animoto, you can use it. And- you have control over the product. I see the chances for Animoto that you just upload the images and let Animoto do the rest - but you do not have any control over the final product slide show.

          Hi Timo

There are always alternatives, the point I'm trying to make is its something that is very easy to use

Many people don't use video on their sites because they are unable to use the software they buy or they don't like the sound of their own voice etc (include me in the last one).

As Chuck pointed out, they do a free version which is also pretty cool

I'm not trying to convince anyone to buy this, I'm not an affiliate or anything, I'm just pointing out something I discovered earlier today which I thought folks would be interested in, especially if they've never attempted a video type thingy before

I just made my first video with animoto and think it is an absolute godsend! I have been putting off videos for so long as I thought it would take a long time - this took less than 5 minutes! I love the fact that you can export it direct to YouTube too - and will happily have the logo at the end since it's free to use.

Until I can get the time to make my own movies this is perfect.

        OOOPS!!! My apologies to Adam!

My older daughter, Lauren, still has those curls at 22. My younger, Jessica, was bald as a billiard ball until she was a toddler and her twin brother, Jon, had all the curls!

The youngest twins, Matthew & Kyle both had em. Impossible to comb anyone's hair without LOTS of creme rinse (No More Tangles.)

Back on topic: A program that was included on my PC that works as simply as Animoto called Muvee Autoproducer. It also includes backgrounds and stuff. Very simple for a video in a few clicks.

That is very slick, very nice video. Developed by film producers, no wonder.

Movie maker and iMovie don't have that ability, they pretty much use the Ken Burns effect which is very limited. To get this kind of look you would need Adobe After Effects with specialised plug ins.

It truly raises the production value of the video, it looks expensive and professional. Technology never stands still eh?

Just a thought, you could burn your videos to DVD, would make a great physical product for marketing and branding your business.

      (Bolding mine)

Actually, on the MovieMaker forum I've frequented for the past few years there are so many talented hobbyists who have created wipes and xml files to share (and some to buy) that anyone interested in persuing making videos can really learn alot of creative ways to impact.

There are a bunch of extremely helpful folks there, including Papa John who writes guides for MovieMaker and Photo Story for Microsoft.

Just search for MovieMaker, it's the biggest/best/top forum listed.

      Awesome forum.

Here's one I did for an off-line client...

That video was actually produced using One True Media

I took the pictures and created a video. I then uploaded the pictures and videos and mix them together using their paid service. It is only $3.99 a month. Well worth it.

    Shannon,
    Nicely done.

I think there will be an upsurge in these simple video commercials for bringing offline clients online as time goes by.

It's an inexpensive, but far reaching marketing move for companies that may not have thought they could afford video advertising in the past.

Lots of gold to be mined out there.
