Affiliate marketers for start-up online store?

I am developing a niche online store and am curious about using affiliate marketing. I would assume that I would be hard pressed to find affiliate marketers willing to spend time and effort to sell products on a site with realistically no guarantee of traffic or sales, but is this necessarily true?

If the niche is attractive, the demand confirmed, a clean site is being used etc., would this be enough to sway an affiliate marketer to start promoting products on this website with an above average commission percentage? What would I need to do if this is even possible? That is to convince affiliate marketers to promote products for a start-up online store.

    Depends what kind of products and what niche you're in; if you have great products to promote then you've got a shot. The first step is to identify the 'whales' - and then make a business proposal to them. You may even want to consider additional incentives/upfront payment so they know they aren't wasting their time.

    You can also try to find these types of guys at web/IM conventions and start up a conversation. If you can befriend one of them and you've got a decent product then they may give you a shot.
