Free hosting is something I'd stay away from.

If you're talking about providing hosting for your clients free of charge, that's another story. You can buy a reseller plan, or just get a regular hosting account and serve your clients' files on it. I know a lot of web dev companies offer this, it can be a good incentive.

I've got a good bit on cPanel hosting in my ebook

I think I mostly covered this in the other thread but just to make sure.

What you want to do is get yourself a reseller hosting account setup. You then create the site you are going to sell on your reseller account and get it ready to sell. Give the client the first month free and then charge them going forward.

If you are building a site to order for a client it is pretty much the same process. If they have a domain already have them change the nameservers to your reseller account if they do not already have hosting and than build the site.

On thing to note is that it is better to not go after the bottom feeder market. I have found that the clients who want something really cheap are the ones who keep wanting to add things on after you agree on a price or other unreasonable demands. They are also the ones who will go host somewhere else to save .50 a month. Real business people as a general rule are much better to deal with (plus you make better money and get referrals)
