What is the future of niches?

Hi Warriors,

Do you find niche research easy?

I noticed that finding for the best niche are getting harder and harder as time goes by. It seems that everything is taken already.

Good thing is the thousands of NEW keywords typed everyday in search engines. You can target these new ones, even if the market is highly competitive. In fact, some folks have business based on this: target ONLY new keywords.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

Well I think a lot of niches are going to get really big and established and a lot more professional as the larger media firms recognize the potential for cornering these markets.

I think that underscores the importance for internet marketers to start developing more personal relationships with their clients

Google suggstions, is great for finding new keywords, they often don't have that much competition and it's what people are typing in for their searches, i've found interesting new keywords this way, which have opened up new ideas

Sure, I think finding the right niche is getting harder because so many people out there are entering the market. But that doesn't mean you can't enter a niche that is already being marketed. What it does mean is that you have to do a whole lot more research to see what you're up against.

If you competition isn't very good at SEO, have crummy sites and don't maintain them on a regular basis, there is no reason why you can't get good foothold.

Niches are never gone but the exact match domain with your keyword might be. If you find a niche with an EMD ranking on the first page with under 100 backlinks you could EASILY register a keyword rich domain and outrank them!

In fact I am doing this with keywords that appear hard to outrank, it just takes better link building and content

Are you targeting only saturated niches? There's plenty out there that are not saturated and should be a lot easier to crack and rank high in the serps.

i think as long as the niches are not one of these:
    1. Internet marketing
    2. Weight loss
    3. Finance
    4. Hobby
    5. Entertainment

    it will be easier

I have no doubt that as time goes by, new methods and techniques of doing niche research will be introduced.

By nature, people will always look for something new including finding innovative ways to make everything easier.

Initially, yahoo and other search engines were there. nobody could have thought that a start up can take them over. But Google did it.

So what ever the niche, if you are better than the competition, then you can own that niche.

Personally, i find that one can make much more money in the established niches rather than searching for new niches. Spend your time in getting a pie of the weight loss, forex, dating and other big online niches. You need a really small part of the niche to be golden.

By 'niche research', I'm assuming you are talking about finding the "high value, low competition" keywords, probably using the same handful of tools everyone else is using.

If my assumption is correct, then finding those niches is going to be harder as more and more people use the same tools on the same obvious seed words, getting the same results.

This is one time where actual experience in the marketplace and knowing the customers is worth more than all the tools in the world.

Many years ago, I took a fishing trip to Canada and stayed at a nice lodge. I took two days fishing time.

The first day, I went with a guide who worked for the lodge. He was new to the area, had basic fishing knowledge, and the same marked-up map the lodge handed out to anyone that asked. We barely caught enough for lunch, and the guide apologized for how tough the fishing was.

Two days later, I fished with a local fishing pro. Same lake that had been pounded hard by this guy and about a hundred other pros the previous weekend. Same cold-front weather. The only difference was that we filled three limits of fish in addition to gorging ourselves on fish during our shore lunch.

I take that back - there was another difference. We fished places that were not marked on any of the lodges' fishing hot-spot maps. We only saw one other boat that day. My pro guide took us to places that he could have only found with BIB time. (Butt In a Boat)

It's the same with finding niches. Once the competition for the easy stuff heats up, it helps to have access to knowledge not common to anyone who has the price of a piece of software.

The profitable niches are still there. You just have to use different means of looking for them.

What is a niche for you? That is the question! Then we can speak, if it will get harder or not.

        Facts are:
More people are entering the market, so it should get harder
More people are buying online, so the revenue in the most niches are growing.

        Summary:
Hard to say, if it will get more difficult. Maybe its not the same for all niches. Sure there are niches where the revenue is growing faster, then new competitors are entering the market.

        To think:
You should calculate how much money you need to make with 1 niche / website / working hour or how you calculate that. Then you should try to estimate how much money you could make in that niche. Best is, if you have serveral niches and then you sort it by the niche with the best estimated ROI.
