It doesn't matter in my opinion if what you're saying makes sense. The only issue is that you probably need to keep it more lively than someone with a movie star voice, and make sure your pronunciation, grammar and flow are really good - if you nail down those things people shouldn't mind.

I agree with this.

I recall being a member to an instructional site (Non IM related) and one of the instructors used to get called out because his voice sounded childish or whatever. But once people listened to some of his information they could have cared less what he sounded like and his material quickly became some of the most popular content on the site.

I created a sample video, it is a video that is attached to the free pre-launch training. It is the audio recorded. The quality is poor because I forgot to correct the slides (some spell mistakes) and just exported the video directly out of final cut software. But here is the sample, tell me what you think of voice.:confused:

You sound find, I can't tell that you sound like a kid. My only complaint is your accent is tough to understand at times. I'd recommend slowing down a little bit for future recordings and make sure you have the best sound quality possible.

Don't worry about a thing otherwise, your voice doesn't sound like a kid.

I agree. Doesn't sound like a kid, but as RevSEO pointed out, the accent is pretty heavy in places...

I'm American but live in Brazil. I speak fluent Portuguese, but I'll never lose the accent - it's just the way it is...

I'm speaking with lots of hyperactivity because I heard tony speaking fast in one of his tapes, I've listened to almost all of his tapes and he speaks fast, so I thought I would try to imitate him as he knows what he does best.

Watch your "white spaces". Sometimes the pause between paragraphs can be as powerful as the words you use.

This type of pause for dramatic effect gives your listener time to anticipate what's coming next, and a moment to absorb and appreciate what was just said.

Yep, I've got plenty of recording to be done, I'll definitely implement your advice. I got a recommendation in Brandon Burchard's expert's academy to get roger love's vocal course, but I got very few time to go through it as I just completed PLF 3.0 and now going through mass control 2.0 one more time to review the strategies when its time to implement them.

So its time to get quick help from fellow marketers here and implement them.

Implementing even short advice from WF can change my life.

I think that the quality and timber of your voice is absolutely fine! Your voice doesn't sound too young to me, and I don't think that most people would even give it a second thought or think you were a teenager based on the example video that you put on Youtube.

However, the one piece of advice that I would give is to not be afraid of having your own speaking style, rather than imitating another person's style. You can still have a lot of energy and enthusiasm in your voice without speaking quickly or rushing through your words, and this can help the listeners to really think about what you're saying and internalize everything. You said about Tony that "he speaks fast, so I thought I would try to imitate him as he knows what he does best." I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that you know what HE does best- just remember that you're YOU, and people will appreciate whatever uniqueness YOU bring to your own tapes. You don't have to speak fast just because someone else does!

You have really great English considering that you're not a native American, so I'm impressed! There are a few words where you seem to put the emphasis on the wrong syllable a little bit- be careful with the words "productivity" and "elimination," for example, or with the word "procrastination-" it sounds a bit like "PERcastination" right now. Thank you! In my new recordings I find a way not to be nervous and just speak. In last 5 years I've been through a lot of failures in IM niche, and I'm trying to help people and the energy coming out is all the frustrations that I faced in past years. In last launch I was able to sell only few hundred copies of a $40 product which was kinda depressing as I was expecting high earnings.

But actually IM is not easy, we see all people make millions of dollars in launches is not an easy thing. I have tried to do high end product launches and it requires a lot of new ideas and a lot of passion, other wise we fail.

This is why I'm a bit concern about every little thing from my voice to the logo and most about the value of the product.

Just as I expected...
There is NOTHING wrong with your voice at all.
The quality of the video and the sound + melody of your voice is better than most other instructional videos I have watched in a long time.

So, stop worrying about the details and get the product out.

I don't think that would really matter as long as you know what your talking about and it makes sense to them then you should not have a problem. The fact that you would be keeping your voice shows your taking what your are doing seriously and you take your work seriously people would admire that.

This question has been asked several times in the recent weeks.

Although people in this forum like to answer "it doesn't matter as long as your content is great", on a subconscious level the sound of a voice surely influences the listener. There's no way around this, it's not a matter of conscious choice for the listener. The listener isn't even consciously aware of this.

This has been researched. Certain voices naturally create a trust-response. Certain voices naturally create distrust-responses.

That's why audio book publishers usually have their products read by pros.
That's why professional news stations don't let the guy next door read the news.
That's why speakers for commercials are carefully chosen.

Now, I can't say anything about your voice, since I did not hear it, but generally there are 2 ways to go:

1. if your focus is on the professionalism of the product, then you should hire a professional speaker. Even if your voice sounds ok, there's still a huge gap between an average speaker and a professional voice artist.

2. if you focus is on positioning yourself, then use your own voice and don't worry about the few who might be put off.

Since you asked whether people will trust you as mentor, it looks like you want to position yourself (instead of being a publisher), and you should probably go with option 2.

Sure some people may criticize you, but heck, who cares?

If the content is amazing, and the recording quality is good, then I honestly could give a crap. One of my favorite interviewers I can't really stand his voice much but his content is so good that I haven't even put much thought into it.

...LOL, yes that is true.

It really matters on what's being said and don't worry too much about how you
sound, that's one of the biggest roadblocks for people using video, your audience
will perceive it different and if you drive home the message, you'll do just fine -

I think when you deliver mind blowing information and prove that you can hold your own in this game, the pitch of your voice won't matter as much.

Maybe you do sound like a ten year old kid, I don't know. But wouldn't that be even more impressive if some high quality information was coming from someone at the starting line of his career?

It could make someone wonder what else you'll bring to the marketplace down the road.

However, you'll still want to create the best product possible, of course...

When your customers hear your voice, they imagine what you're really like behind the audio. If they perceive knowledge and confidence, they'll look forward to connecting with you. If not, they'll want to disconnect.

Your voice is your unique trademark. It brands you. It can be a powerful tool in building trust with your customers.

Here are a few tips you can use to help strengthen your vocal chords:

Speak with confidence. Stand or sit up straight, keep your shoulders back. Posture will affect your breating and voice tone. Make sure you are breathing from your diaphragm, as shallow breathing can cause the voice to sound strident.

Another technique you could use if your voice is particularly high, is to exercise the range of your voice by practicing some sliding scales. You can expand the range of your voice by singing.

If you really want to exceed your customers' expectations, you must sound clear, warm, upbeat, and under control.

Drink lots of water throughout your day. It'll help keep your voice pleasant. When you're recording hours of audio, it's important to keep your voacl chords lubricated.

Harel, the pitch of your voice does not matter. The VALUE and LEADERSHIP that you offer is what will captivate people. If you give information of value to them, then they will view you as a leader.

I have friends in the industry that are making 7 GRAND a DAY that have higher voices and don't really sound like adults. They are just so excited about what they are talking about, that they DONT CARE!

  I don't think listeners care about the voice(if it's coming from a ten year old or older) of the one speaking. For me, you may have the voice of an angel or the best voice ever but if I don't like what you are saying(content) I will surely not waste my time. If you're sure the content is good and with quality then go for it. I think you can share a sample here.

Dude I hear ya- I'm 26 and I still think I sound like a kid too.

Thiing is- there are kids making BANK with IM, so it really doesn't matter how old you are OR how old you sound :-p

i wouldn´t care either - the point is that what you say makes sense and is valuable to your reader. i recorded several videos, i´m german so i will never sound perfectly in english but many people told me that they like my accent ;-) so this really made me a bit more self-conscious.

The main thing is confidence. If you sound like you are self-concious or nervous about your voice your audience will have less confidence in what you say. You have to speak with authority.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter if your voice is sounds like a kid as long as your content is very effective and beneficial. People these days are very intelligent. So, you don't have to worry about your voice.

Hi,

I'm just stepping out of my office. So, I'll be able to view YouTube only when I'm back Home. However, you can use Goldwave and make your voice deeper, if you'd still prefer that.

But yea, it shouldn't really matter much. However, there's nothing like sounding like Morgan Freeman... That way you could speak in a dreaded tone and still pull it off. J/k... and no offence to Mr. Freeman. He's a classy actor.

I am glad god gave me a deep voice and an aussie accent. That sure helps as a marketer i think.

Anyway, I need to tell you that i actually did a survey in one of my niches and a forum to ask if content was more important than voice and production.

A staggering 92% came back and said yes. That means you can have a ugly head, squeeky voice and all, but people just want to know you are delivering the best to them.

Your voice sounds fine and it doesn't sound like a kids at all

To me the microphone "pop" was what made it hard listening.

I am sure some plug in effect could reduce some of that

Some above mentioned to slow down a bit too - I am in agreement - the actor Michael Caine once said if you think you have something important to say - slow down when you say it.

For what its worth Margaret Thatcher one of the most successful politicians ever hated to see herself on tv or the sound of her voice. I think we all hear our own voices differently from what they actually sound like.

I will definitely ask my sound editor to correct all the pop, noise and properly sweeten the voice. The reason why I'm not altering my voice is because I'm most likely to speak in the seminar in San Francisco at the end of this year. I don't want people to believe that this guy doesn't sound like the one in the tapes. Or else the voice of tapes and seminar will be different. :confused:

Yep you're lucky.

I just have to focus on how to maximize user experience. This is one of the reason that if the user feels entertained, it will be most likely that he will complete the training and have a good experience with it, which is the most important thing for me. I can afford few drops in profit but cannot afford an unhappy customer.

If you sell a product that you have created then you know that how much painful it is to experience an unhappy costumer.

All i can say is this - are you familiar with Jason Fladlien?

I am - i have purchased a ton of his products ...

Have you ever heard the guy laugh on audio/video? No knock on the guy but he sounds a bit possessed.

He makes a killing online!

Or another thing you can do is look in Fiverr for folks willing to do the audio/video and voice over for 5$. I remember seeing a couple of gigs like that earlier.
