$10K/Month in 3 Years..Realistic goal?

Hey guys

Ive been reading some stuff on Internet Marketing for some months. Ive made little money, some commissions and Adsense income but nothing really stable or big.

Im 22 years old and thinking about making a full time income in the near future.

I was thinking about this goal: Generating $10k per month in 3 years.

Do you think this is a realistic goal if I work like 4-6 hours per day?

Thanks and would like to see your opinions on this.

If you have starting money and learn the right things with 4-6 hours a day and taking action you could do it in less than a year.

Yes it is realistic. You just need to focus and plan out what you want to do. Don't go all out and buy every shiney object you see. If you like affiliate marketing, do affiliate marketing, if you like making your own products, then make your own products. Stick to it.

Saying it is one thing; achieving it is another. Anything is possible. There is no set equation that say: If you work x hours for y years, that you will make $10k/month. It is what you put into it, how hard you work, and how well you persist with what you're doing.

Your best bet is to write down your goal, make a plan, and STICK TO IT. It's extremely hard to stick to something for a year, let alone a few months. However, get through it, keep on top of your game, and you will be successful.

      Indeed.

This a business, not mathematics. There's no "fixed formula to success". Is it realistic? yes it is! You can even reach $10k/month within 6 months, but it all depends on whether you take the right steps.

It's possible, but there are no guarantees. Your skill level and talents along with many factors beyond your control play into things.

If you have the time, there is no harm in trying though.

I would say yes. It depends on your experiences over time. If you can focus on your goal and take actions as you learn then you can do it. Results vary though. I also think that 4-6hours per day is plenty to pursue your goal.

Myself, I have no success with adsense so I don't know, but I did have success with other affiliate programs. It took me roughly about 4 years to reach my goal. I wasn't really trying hard enough at the beginning. I did also took time off after many failures then to realize that I must keep it going to set myself free from working 9-5 job.

My advice to you is that keep learning and learning and apply what you have learned. Use your imagination and think outside the box. You will definitely fail at least several times along the way. But if you keep going, you will realize that those failures are actually a good lesson. It is a closer step to success. There's nothing to be ashamed of. Be prepared to go all the way is a must.

I suppose my question would be - how many domains can you buy in a year? lol

These days, when you're just starting you've got to buy a crap load of domains and they need to be .com/.org and .net's.

You'd have to be pulling in about $333 a day, everyday in order to come out to 10k a month.

    That should be your goal.

Start at $50 a day, then move up to making $333 a day in year 3. I'm somewhere in between that.. lol

If you work properly for 4-6 hours a day you can easily set up a sustainable 10k/month within your first year - or even in 6 months.

Focus on one method only and do it until you succeed at it. Then scale it up and outsource it or automate it. Then, you can try another method.

Do not buy a 'get rich quick' WSO every other day and do that particular method for a week. It's a silent killer.

The advantages of internet marketing is its own foe. There are so many different ways to make tons of money online, that many people try to do all the different ways at once. Doesn't work.

Focus, focus, focus and put on blinders.

    • Maybe it's just me and I'm reading all the wrong threads, but in these discussions about how to get to some magic dollar amount in some fantasy time frame, no one ever seems to talk about being methodical.

Oh sure, they'll tell you to put up affiliate pages and AdSense and Clickbank blah-blah-blah but they rarely discuss the process of:

      1. Trying something
      2. Measuring the results in good, hard numbers
      3. Modifying as necessary
      4. Return to 1.

Iteration takes time. No one can tell you how long. If you insist on handicapping yourself by starting out on lunch money, it might take even longer. And even after all that is said and done, it can be a complete waste if the idea you started with is a crappy one. I can show you lots of Ghosts of Websites Past that all sounded like pretty reasonable concepts when I dreamed 'em up but failed to hit the mark.

I was reading recently about a guy who started a blog about coffeemakers but not just any coffeemakers; only the ones that make one cup at a time. By limiting his focus to that one subset he was able to attract readers and advertisers as well as becoming the authority site. Focus. Give people what they want.

Yes, it can be done, even if you are slow. Many folks can name a few people they personally know who are doing this. There are so many great tips in this thread.

There are also so many methods, and everyone develosp their own way of doing things. Finding a mentor who you can skype with once a week is going to be very useful in my opinion, even better if you can be mentored in person.

Nevermind 3 years, why not 3 months?

Start as you mean to go on.

    Why not?

      Hey Pete,

I know you what you mean, but honestly man, 3 months is just WAY to soon for a someone BRAND NEW to IM to be making 10K/mo unless they hit the lotto and had like 500K to invest in some paid advertising campaigns.

While I'm not trying to put anyone down, by any means, thats simply an unrealistic goal. I would say that making $300 to $1000 per month, in your first 3 months would be TOTALLY reachable. Not saying that 10K in your first 3 months is not possible, but with no experience, its not very likely.

      Hope that helps clarify things...

    >>$10K/Month in 3 Years..Realistic goal?<<

    NO, it's not!

The reason is, you will NEVER, EVER DO ANYTHING you deem to be realistic.

    Be UNREALISTIC.

Make $10,000 in the next 90 days.

If the person you loved most was going to die if you didn't make the money, you'd figure out how to do it. You'd be UNREALISTIC and NO ONE could convince you otherwise.

    You're 22.

    Time to step up.

    Find a mentor.

    OBEY for 18 months.

Learn to live above your feelings.

Stay out of forums other than to ask specific questions or share specific results.

Surfing around here gives you monkey mind.

    Ask a better question.

    It's definitely realistic!

Reiterating what others have said, now that you have your 3 year deadline in place, work hard on your plan but work hard at hitting your goal even earlier.

If you are going to focus on affiliate sites, the end goal is to scale up as multiple sites mean more income. So think about how you can get there even quicker!

    Short answer is YES.

But that's just 3 letters. Depending what you actually do is important.

My online income went absolutely ZERO to over 5 and sometimes 6 figures per month online within the first 12 months of starting.

It takes time, dedication and down right hunger. If you want it that bad and you take action then yes its perfectly achievable.

    NO WAY YOU'LL MAKE IT!

So yeah, it's definitely possible- just don't do what 99% of people do which is jump around from method to method!

You should be able to hit 10k/m within a year with proper planning.

Some people can do it even faster. Depends a lot on your mindset: no so much about how positive you are, but how you think about building leverage in some way with your business.

Mindset? I think a lot of you got lucky when you started out and assume it's going to be as easy for everyone else.

I know that in my most profitable niches it was about timing and chance.

I took a chance, using some knowledge and it worked. That says nothing on my mental state, hell most of the time I was bipolar. I just got lucky and figured out a way to make it work.

Is it a realistic goal of 10k in 3 years? I think I just changed my mind on this. Forget 3 years.

Focus instead on what you think you CAN get to at the end of your first year and THAT would be a realistic goal!

Lucky? Yeah I just threw up a website and got lucky with it. It had nothing to do with all the planning and systems I had in place or the effort I spent in building my leverage.

Sure, timing is important but do you think I just pick the right time to attack by chance, or that I studied what was working at the time and adapted accordingly?

Again as I stated... I am not saying mindset as in "if I think positively I'll make a lot of money". It has nothing to do with being bi-polar or anything like that - I'm not referring to that kind of mindset.

I am referring to the mindset change from doing one off stuff to being solely focused around building leverage.

definitely realistic. I've seen a few ppl hit the 10k-15k a month mark in around 2 years. I know a person that makes over 100k in a 9 month period and she worked for around 2 years.

I agree with Dan, you must have the right mindset. The question of whether you can make $10k a month within 3 years will have different answers for different people.

Those people with the right mindset, the determination and are willing to put in the hard work - yes they can make $10k a month in less than 3 years.

Those people who dream of the big money and spend all their time searching for the next big thing, procrastinating and just not putting in the effort - then no they are not likely to make $10k a month.

Get your head in the right space and you'll do well!

  • Go for it dude! You can do it. Research the law of attraction and it will help you reach this goal. I think that most people overlook the whole POWER OF THE MIND type stuff because they just don't understand it. I think you definitely have enough time dedicated to your efforts. more than the average person. Learn to manage your time wisely and to only do things during that time that will make you money.

Find a model that works, and work at it focused like a laser. If you jump around from method to method you'll be asking the same question in 3 years.

That said, you may need to check out a few methods to find out which method you like doing and that works - but once you find it (do it quickly), then go at it hammer and tongs.
