The best content for a wordpress blog

Hey warriors,

With my journey in creating blogs primarily in 4 niche areas:
Blogging, Weight Loss, Yoga and Self Improvement: I am wondering what could be the best form of content with following choices in hand:

1) Auto dripping Q&A from Yahoo Answers using a plugin
2) Auto dripping relevant You Tube videos using a plugin
3) Auto dripping relevant articles from article directories using suitable plugin
4) Feeding these blogs through platforms like PirePow and others
5) Writing fresh posts every 3rd or 4th day
6) Using WP-O-Matic and getting content thru RSS feeds

Which is the most ''blogger-friendly'' method that would guarantee reasonable traffic to the blogs in question.

Pls post your valuable opinion(s).

Thanks.

The only thing that worked for me was option number (5) :

Writing fresh posts every 3rd or 4th day

Just to fill your blog with automated content (articles from Directories, RSS feeds, youtube video) is certainly not the best option. In my opinion, it is not even an option to be considered.

A few months ago, I wrote one unique article on my blog. This article took 10 days of intensive research and editing. Yet, since the time it was published, it has been attracting almost 100 visitors per day till this date. There have been 59 comments on this article and almost all of them contains are very positive comments. It is number one on Google for it's desired keyword.

Slowly, I am coming to the conclusion that the power of unique and remarkable content is unmatched. No automated tool can come close to it.

The niche you have chosen : Blogging, Weight Loss, Yoga and Self Improvement- have immense potential for unique content. Just have a look at Steve Pavlina's blog. His blog is number one self-help blog on internet- just because of sheer power of remarkable content.

Now take your own decision as to what kind of content you want for your blog.

It wouldn't have a thing to do with those 260,000+ backlinks he has, now would it? Oh, but look, he doesn't even rank on page 1 in Google for 'Self help'. Wonder why that is? Probably because most of those links are on his name and not on what he's talking about.

His main virtue was that he got into blogging early and made a name for himself before everybody and their pet began to blog, just like Scobble and some others. Today, there are people with better content who get just a couple of hits a day because they have a "if I write great content they will come" mentality.

      • Nothing beats the power of great content online. Yes, Steve Pavlina's blog is a good example.

Why are we looking for short cuts here? I don't know about any of you but I am in this for long term.Online business -- be it blogging, AM, etc - must be thought of as real businesses.

If you were in the construction business and you thought you could build skyscrapers with low-quality building materials, how long would your business last?

Drip-feeds, auto-feeds, ripping off content and doing everything in your power NOT to work hard in one's business is detrimental to your brand. You don't want people to feel cheated, do you? When they came looking for what you promised they would get, they got nothing but the same clipping they had read somewhere.

Money is exchanged for value. No Value? No money. No money? No Business.

I think we should all come out of the "Money for nothing" temptation and produce blogs/sites like techcrunch.com, inc.com, entrepreneur.com and many more. A lot of work goes in there. Content is what keeps people coming back there, not an online publishing company's social marketing prowess or the ad spend on PPC.

You need great content, but in most cases you have to go beyond simply great content. You have to design and implement a coordinated plan to drive traffic and build a community. You'll end up getting traffic from SEs, social bookmarking sites, blog comments, returning subscribers / visitors, and articles (syndicated and directories).

You have to write and title for visitors and search engines. You also have to use all the the tools at your disposal. They key is to use a synergistic approach that augments the great content to ensure you build traffic more quickly.

autoblogging with contentboss is easier than writing it yourself. The main thing is that you content must be targeted, and UNIQUE.

If it isn't unique, all you are doing is wasting disc space.

Thanks to every respondent. I appreciate this.

I may be wrong BUT what I think is by incorporating the power of a plugin that draws in Qand As from Yahoo Answers and then the same blog powered with a suitable your tube plugin, both can draw high quality ''relevant content''.

If the above can be ''garnished'' with unique posts if not very frequesntly BUT say: weekly, I am sure the blog will be appreciated.

    Do you agree?

    Hi Rajul,

Hope you are getting good from your wordpress blogs.

Here is my personal opinion about fresh unique content VS auto dripping content.

If I were you, I will make a decision by seeing my business model.

If I want to 'really' join into the niche, I will use fresh unique content and have a responsive list.

But if I just want to make my another blog, I will made the content auto dripped and just leave it...

So, it depends on the business model and dripped content can't beat fresh unique content is almost any cases.

    Just my 2 cents.

You have taken this issue in an entirely different direction. Here the main issue was 'The best content for a wordpress blog' not 'Can a best content become popular just by creating it ?'.

I agree with you that creating remarkable content is not enough. We need to promote it so that it can reach to its intended audience. However, my thoughts (and those of some other members) were regarding the quality of the content that is best suited for a wordpress blog and one which motivates your visitors to come back again.

Just tell me what kind of blogs do you read in your RSS reader? Those who are written by real human beings or those who are auto generated by some plugins/script ?

Nobody is saying here that just by building content rich website will ensure a regular flow of income. We still need to promote our blogs/websites. But in the long run having a blog/website that contains unique quality content is going to be far better than having a automatic blog/site.

I don't know about others but as a lay Internet user, I always prefer those websites/blogs which have a human touch in them.

It depends on your objectives. If you want to build a personal brand social site, then, yes, you will need quality unique content. But, if your objective is to market to a particular niche in a billboard or TV commercial manner primarily using search traffic, then lightweight content of various types is the ticket.

Also, remember that most people here are 'content connoisseurs' and value high quality content. We're almost like music snobs who listen to the best classical music or the trendiest alternative underground modern music. But, the masses love the mass produced drivel that the radio stations play over and over again. And the masses are the ones with the money. As P.T. Barnum said, "No one went broke underestimating public taste."

I agree with your 'synergistic approach' idea if you're building a social marketing site. Having both social referral and search traffic can help.

But, with most of my niche marketing blog sites, my objective isn't to 'build a community' but to sell a particular product or to achieve paid click-thrus to landing pages that make a sale I get a commission on. Therefore, I'm only looking for a one-time search visitor who'll click and buy, not someone who'll stick around and come back to get free information.

I guess my message is that you don't necessarily need to have quality unique content to build a site that's successful at making money. All you really need is buying keyword targeted content that's not total garbage and backlinks.

Shekhar, Ashwin, BGMacaw, Phil, Seree, Steve and Jon,

    Thank you all.

I have drawn lot of insights into the understanding of the real content that any blog ought to hold from your posts.

As I have pointed it out above and as Chris and BGMacaw have also opined likewise, I think the blog should be a mix of the 3 ''methods'':
    - keyword driven and extracted content from article directories and Yahoo answers
    - keyword driven relevant you tube videos &
ABOVE ALL: article posts which are unique and specific to the blog topic.

This way: the blog will contain everything: Q&As, Bloggers viewpoints ( unique posts ), Videos and popular articles lying all over the web space ( in article directories........what are they meant for )

I consider blog as a ''self published mag on the web'' and what better mag could you create which has elements for every reader on it.

Just take a look at this blog which I set up in the morning: Speak Your Heart Out
The idea behind this blog of mine is to showcase voices and opinions of people on current burning issues around the world: like> terrorism, corruption, aggression etc.
( the blog is under development ) The idea here is to show that within about less than a day, the blog is getting the content that I have in mind and thanks to the plugin creators........it owes to them.

Well how well does the content thats not unique rank in the search engines? I have not tried this myself as I have been using my own unique content. The problem I run into is targeting keywords that are alike but unique, but I still have to basically re write the same content as its the same issue.

Im curious as if anyone who has success just setting up content sites with content from yahoo answers or ezinearticles. If you want even get say 50 uniques per day from this and your targeting converting keywords with a good product that could turn into a nice little income stream that you can literally set and forget. I have not tried this myself but its something ive been thinking about lately.

I remember reading a thread once saying that someone did an experiment using content from ezinearticles and it ranking fairly well in the SE's. I think im going to set up a free blogger blog later today and try this out and see where its at in a month.

Get a plugin that adds say 2 new articles per week to my blog. Should be interesting
