I'm glad you're offering your help, because there's something I've always wanted to know:

I keep my download pages on a separate domain from the sales page (I do this as a security measure). Most conversion scripts require me to keep the thank you page on the same domain the sales page is on.

Any advice about how to track conversions if my sales page and thank you page are on totally different domains?

Sure, no problem. There is conversion tracking software that will do that. The two that I like and use are Prosper202 and Affiliate Prophet.

Prosper202 is free and self hosted on a dedicated domain or sub domain of your server. It is mainly for affiliate marketing but can be used to track your own products. It can be used to track content and placement advertising too, in addition to PPC.

If you don't want to self host the software you can use Tracking202, which is the same software, it is just a service you can sign up for.

My other favorite is Affiliate Prophet. It is unique in that it uses Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action (AIDA) to track and predict your sales. It uses AIDA for your sales pages as well as on a per keyword basis, content, or organic traffic depending on how you advertise your site.

The best part about that is you can actually make your sales pages better with AIDA and minimal traffic, no longer do you have to wait for conversions to know what works and what don't.

Both have a tracking pixel that will allow you to track your conversions even though they are on separate domains.

Affilaite Prophet will allow you to track up to 3 conversions from a single tracking link too.

Let's say you go from PPC >>> Squeeze >>> PreSell >>> Sales Offer

You'll be able to track the squeeze conversion to the presell, the presell conversion to the offer, and then the offer conversion to the sale.

Pretty cool stuff.

Here is a thread where I shared some PHP code that that helps you track keywords for articles, squidoo, etc. You can also use it for PPC. If you send traffic to a landing page and use a redirect for your affiliate link, we cover that too. If you want to use it for PPC, let me know and I'll point you in the right direction.

The thread is long and most of the meat is in the middle to the end of the thread, but it is worth the read if you want to do some tracking for free.

Conversion Tracking - I need to track EVERYTHING.

The code is pretty straight forward and it works.

I haven't used XC3, but it is my understanding that it only does conversion tracking.

Affiliate Prophet on the other hand does conversion tracking and uses Attention, Interest, Desire, and Action (AIDA) to predict what is working on your sales pages or presell pages. It also uses AIDA for PPC keywords and organic traffic.

You can test your campaigns quickly with minimal traffic saving you time and money.

It will also track 3 conversions per tracking link.

Thanks Dereck. Also...may I know is the Affiliate Prophet's AIDA data **accurate** or not base on your experience with it so far? I mean whether or not those AIDA data are reliable enough to be used for PPC keyword and conversion analyses?

By the way, can Affiliate Prophet to be used for tracking on MSN, Yahoo and any other ad or CPA networks?
