Newbie Question: Whois privacy and subdomain

I am just starting to learn the internet business and was planning to sign up for a free web hosting service to practice creating a site.

I was wondering if I get a subdomain under the web hosting company (ex. thenameofmysite.freewebhosting.com, will my contact information be posted in a whois search? Do I need to get any whois guard? I dont see the option to choose private registration or is that only for someone who buys their own domain?

    if you're using someone's subdomain you aren't actually registering a domain in the technical sense, so you don't need to worry about whois/pivacy as there is no unique whois for subdomains.

    When you're ready to step up to your own domains/hosting, check out the top link in my sig, it's a helpful little guide to getting everything up and running.

    I agree a free host can be helpful for practicing, but when you're ready to make some money you should step it up.

    Hey,,

    If you wann get a grasp on where to start and what you should be looking for as far as domain names, keywords, and all that stuff, go to my blog in my sig and it's the last post. It's a course called Google Sniper,, and this is a great program to get you up to speed on how this stuff all works,,, the domain name and how you should test your keywords to see if they are worth your time and effort.

    You don't wanna be doing a bunch of work setting up sites or blogs for bad keywords and bad domain names that you will never rank for.
