A couple Of Quick Questions If You Are Still Struggling

There's a lot of excellent information shared here on the
forum, as well as some that can put you out of business
pretty quickly.

Your own intuition will tell you... to an extent... which is which.

However, if you been hanging out here a year or more
and aren't experiencing some noticeable degree of success
you need to slow down and answer the following questions.

1) Are you selling something that people actually want,
are willing to pay for, and are you offering it to the
right people?

2) Are you honestly willing to put in the work, or are you
constantly looking for shortcuts and easier ways... ways
that usually don't exist?

3) Are you actively building a list of people interested
in a very specific topic, consistently following up with
them on that topic, building a deep emotional relationship
with those people, letting them know that you understand
their needs, and then offering them solutions that
actually work?

4) Are you willing to take risk, acknowledging that rewards
are often directly proportional to risk?

5) Are you willing to spend money on a few things that will
improve your professional image and provide real leverage,
or are you still trying to build a business using only
free resources?

6) Are you feeding your mind properly, ruthlessly guarding
it against negative people who will only drain your energy,
and keep you at their level?

7) Have you actually taken ANY of those courses, WSO's, etc.,
and implemented them all the way through to where you could
measure the results?

8) Do you prefer planning and dreaming to the often riskier,
and even at times disappointing, simply doing?

9) Have you inventoried what YOU bring to the table, asking
"What do I have that the world would happily pay for?"

10) Have you taken an honest look at how much time you
actually spend building your business... as compared to how
much time you spend getting ready to start?

Just a little food for thought... questions that I often ask
my students... and myself

      V good points.

'Doing' instead of 'dreaming' and having something to offer that people want to buy are qualities that are ignored or overlooked on a massive scale these days.

These sorts of questions are what I have been thinking about alot recently. Thanks for coming up with some other questions I hadn't thought of too!

Great "top 10" list, Willie. I'm certainly guilty of some of them from time to time! Some of those questions are not always "comfortable" or "easy" to deal with, but they all are spot on. I think expanding on each of those questions (and discussing their solutions) would make a great info product!

I agree with you Brandon, but I'm almost too prolific at product
        creation :-)

Hi Wille, first of all thanks again for useful post. I've simple question to ask.

    7) Have you actually taken ANY of those courses, WSO's, etc.,
and implemented them all the way through to where you could
    measure the results?
Answer is NO. Am I in wrong way?

Answer is NO. Am I in wrong way?

A lot of those courses, and most of the WSO's that I've
bought delivered solid results, so yes, you're in the wrong.

Unless you're buying it for research, or to get resale
rights or something, you should go through the product
and test it out, or fit it into your process before getting
      side-tracked by something else.

That's not to say that I don't have a ton of files still
unopened sitting on my desktop, but again, a lot of that
stuff DOES work... if we use it.

These are all super-powerful questions, but this is one that most people should read over and over and over and over!

I have to constantly correct myself from doing too much learning and too little doing.

That is a fantastic list of questions Willie for both newbies and veterans alike since it's always a good thing to be reminded of them.

When I first got started #6 was a huge difference maker for me, too bad it took me nearly a year of "doing stuff" to finally get it:

    6) Are you feeding your mind properly, ruthlessly guarding
it against negative people who will only drain your energy,
and keep you at their level?
As I'm going into my eleventh year being online and having worked with a lot of people, more and more I've become a believer in that everything starts with the proper mindset. No two people are identical in the way they think and learn so for some people it takes time to get the right mindset. In my specific case, I had to unlearn a lot of bad habits and alter years of improper conditioning from my parents, peers, and the media.

For me it was very difficult to stop hanging around people who simply didn't "get it" - at first. Once I got rid of the energy vampires, the friends who only wanted to party all the time, put away the television, and start feeding my brain with books and paradigm-shifting videos is when I began focusing on the right things that allowed me to really understand the rest of the questions on your list.

So question #6 was HUGE for me because I used to think that all that "mind stuff" was hokey and a load of crap. Until I got real with myself and realized I wasn't having success because I wasn't thinking like a successful person. Now I'm all about mindset, seeing the glass half full, and continually feeding my mind with good things.

You struck a grand slam with that list! I've saved it as a PDF.

I use to think the same thing, until I just started noticing how even
      little things shift our energy.

Just observe how watching a movie or listening to a certain song
pumps you up, pisses you off, or depresses you.

Notice how the things that you THINK others are says about you
shift your energy... and affect how much you can get done... and
you realize how easily your energy is shifted... and how much
      control you have over it.

One of my mentors has a saying that I really love.... "What others
think about me is none of my business." That can be very
      empowering :-)

This is a really good list of questions. And also interesting. It's always good to take some steps back and to look at the situation with an objective and fresh perspective.

These sorts of questions reveal things that sometimes we don't want ear, see, or use. The time passes and nothing happens.
And it's really when we start asking ourselves these kinds of questions that things change positively.

    6) Are you feeding your mind properly, ruthlessly guarding
it against negative people who will only drain your energy,
and keep you at their level?
It's also true with people who try to discourage you. In some case, you can avoid negative people but sometimes it comes from close persons because they don't understand this "virtual internet marketing" thing. I think of that especially at the beginning. In that case, I think that the best option is to keep going no matter what because, if you take action and if you follow a plan, you are on a good way.

    5) Are you willing to spend money on a few things that will
improve your professional image and provide real leverage,
or are you still trying to build a business using only
    free resources?
This one reminds me lot of threads about trying to find free auto responder. And these threads almost always come with the same answers. Some free services are really good but most often, it's better to start with some paid ones.
That's interesting to realize that it's not so expensive to invest money for our internet marketing business. What is expensive is to invest money in some bad products. Another side point about this - I talk about what I did, which I'm sure I'm not the only one - is buying product after product, wso after wso. If I had invested all the money I spent on bad or unnecessary products into some serious product, I would certainly have better results today.
By the way, this leads to the question 7). It's not possible to correctly implement a course if we buy one every week.

    10) Have you taken an honest look at how much time you
actually spend building your business... as compared to how
much time you spend getting ready to start?
This one is a good one. I remember at the beginning, I could spend hours just to find the perfect theme for a website or just to make a small banner. But when you think about it, you just realize that by the time you finish your website design, somebody else will have finish an entire website and probably more.

I think the questions that you asked to ask your self are great. People spend a lot of time thinking about what they are going to do. Thinking they do not have enough information, making up all kinds of excuses, some of them even think that by staying busy or thinking that is work. You have to take action with what you know now. As you get more information or what you are doing is not working change. But what ever you do act.

Even if it is wrong you will at least learn what does not work. But do not give up on something to early just because you see a shiny new widget.

    Excellent post Willie!
