How Does He Make These Photos?

Hey guys,

Do you know how Pat Flynn make his cut out photos? I am not sure that cut out photos accurately describes them, but you can see them here - How to Create a BRANDED Facebook Page (With Matching Profile and Banner Images) | The Smart Passive Income Blog.

Thanks for your help,
Fred

That can be done in photoshop. Another reason that learning image editing comes in handy. I bet you could get somebody to do that for you on fiverr.com if you post in the wanted section.

    hi,

that´s pretty easy. you use a grunge brush in photoshop (e.g. from deviantart.com) then you "draw" and area in black, then you place your photo above and use it as a clipping mask. that´s it :-) you can do all kind of shapes and such

Ashampoo works pretty well too. The jaggedness of the edges on the free form screencap is not so strong, but it is easy to use and relatively inexpensive. I think it is still under 25.00 USD ( I am not sure about that, but it was for a while)

I was going to say Snag-It costs money and Photoshop doesn't until I realized that was just... dumb. I've had a copy of Photoshop so long I feel like it's standard equipment with a computer. Love TechSmiths stuff but I don't have Snag-It (Yet), I didn't know it could do knockouts like that.

Hey guys! Pat here. The jagged edge that I use, which looks a bit different than the snag-it image, is simply from Pages for Mac.

I wrote a blog post just about making screenshots and images on your site *POP*. Hope this helps! Cheers!

      Hi Pat,
      Thanks for the reply!

Snag-It allows you to increase or decrease the edges and/or choose
      differnet shapes.

Once again, Thanks for chiming in and setting the post straight based on what you actually did to get the results!

I use Fastone Capture, has a few settings to change the torn look.
