please talk about or list things that didn't work for you when you first started with IM. Things you did that were complete failures or if you went completely wrong about doing something. I think this thread could be a good opportunity for beginners to learn from other people's mistakes and hopefully not make the same ones.

Feel free to expand your thoughts as well.

    I think beginners are going to learn a lot quicker by hearing what people did RIGHT rather than WRONG... and there are plenty of threads already discussing that.

    Failure is like success - you need to experience it for yourself to learn from it.

    Secondhand won't do, even though your motives are helpful ones.
