Running To Competition vs Avoiding It

There's two schools of thought when it comes to competition. One school says to go to the competitive markets because that's where the sales are happening and where the buyers go. But the down side is the danger of getting lost in the crowd.

The other school says to seek out the low competition markets, where it's easier to get noticed. But the down side is most low competition markets have low earnings or short term earnings ... if any at all. Plus, the high paying low competition markets continue to get harder to find, even with expensive software.

What's your thoughts, experiences and ideas. Which school of thought do you fall in? Or which has worked best for you?

Would you rather own a fast food joint in a small town of 300 people and have no competetion, or a restaraunt in a food court of a mall with 20 other places to eat, but gets 10,000 visitors a day?
