This isn't so much a post as it is a blurb that I needed to share with you all.
I observed an amazing phenomenon the other day and I feel the need to share it with you.
It all started on June 8, 2011 when I watched a south park episode called "getting old".
In the show, the kids were into a music genre called "teen wave", (a kind of techno music with fart sounds in the background) and I know full well that the creators of south park draw from current events when they create their satirical cartoon.
So I figured that there was an actual teen wave music genre that the creators of south park were making fun of so I decided to look up the actual teen wave music and compare.
I clicked my way to youtube and typed in teen wave and I got two videos that were put up by the same person after the airing of the south park episode.
I listened to it and it sounded just like the paraody on south park so I deciced to continue my search for the real teen wave.
But to my surprise I found out that the creators of south park completely made up "teen wave" for the show. No big deal, shows do that all the time. Right.....
But here is the shocking part!
I went back to the stupid little video on youtube that was created shortly after the airing of that south park episode and I was amazed to learn that this idiotic little video in its short life span of a day had generated:
54,069 unique hits!
Take away what you can from this observation and keep your eyes and ears peeled so that you can find a way to ride the wave and make this nifty little marketing strategy work for you.
