hello,

Just wondering if anyone has any good suggestions of where to put things like product download pages and links so that people can't get to them unless they purchase. I know to hide them in a folder thats got a random name but surely there are better options out there.

What about things like free content...say I'm sending a free video or report to people on my list...again I could put it in a randomly named folder but it still seems like a risky place to put stuff in that you want people to only access if they paid for it or as time goes by and they get the appropriate follow up message (I don't want them to just download all my free offers if they find the folder from the start and then unsubscribe).

Thank you :0)

what I would do is simply password protect a directory then after the sale email them the password and username to it.

One option would be to keep the files in a directory with a random filename. Then, periodically change the name of the directory. You could also keep two such directories and alternate renaming so that you don't end up renaming one before a signup has had a chance to download the file.

A better option would be to use something like DLGuard.

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

For paid downloads, I'd recommend placing your files
within a folder that is not accessible via the web,
        i.e. above the public_html folder.

Then use a script such as DLGuard or Rapid Action Profits
to only allow people who have paid for the item to actually
        get access to the files.

(These programs act as a bridge between the legitimate
paying customer and the files in the non web-accessible
        folder).

I wouldn't worry about over-complicating things to protect
        free report downloads etc.

        Dedicated to mutual success,

        Shaun
