I just purchased a 1 phrase keyword domain for a very competitive niche. (the domain is not in English) and would like to know the best way to monetize it. Say, I own www-dot-dentist-dot-com

Here are some ideas:
1. Build a authority site (lots of work and take a long time to monetize it)
2. Rent the site to a dentist
3. Build a dentist directory

I'd love to hear what you think :-)

    With such an awesome Domain even though another language which you don't reveal, An authority site from ground up is what I would do even if it takes me 5 years. Of course, you're not me. Are you fond of dentistry? I'll let others give their opinions...

    Rent it in the short run to make some money off it, then in the mean time create an authority site on another domain with the intention of eventually transitioning it to the original domain name.

    If you could build a directory and get dentists to pay a small monthly amount ($7/mo) to be included, you'd have a great passive income (albeit after some upfront work). This would give you time to develop your authority site or whatever you chose to do long term.

    There are so many ways to monetize the site, the best answer simply depends on what type of work you like to do.

    You could try ppc to an offer on the site, i heard you get much better ppc clicks with foreign keywords as it can be less competition than english. You could also throw some good adsense related terms on the site to start off with.

    think it depends how interested and knowledgeable you are in the topic.
    I think developing the site with small relevant info while building a directory list can speed up the process in establishing an authority site
