Rapper Lil' Wayne & T.I. - 10% Commission - Just Another Domain Flipping Question -

I recently found out that a domain I registered in '08 for my daughter's personal website now happens to be the exact match for the name of a musical group founded by rappers Lil' Wayne and T.I.

The OMG Girlz consists of one of each of the rappers' daughters, and seems to be getting very popular.

I setup a WordPress blog for my daughter at OMGGIRLZ.COM back then, but I could never get her into 'blogging.' (darn kids!)

So, the site just sits there now.

I've been in CPA marketing for a few years, but am a total noob when it comes to selling domains.

A couple of months ago, I was reading a thread about this, and a Warrior member contributing to the thread mentioned that he brokers deals like this for a 10% commission, and I would like to get a hold of him. I'm thinking the domain name might be quite valuable as a brand now, so that 10% might be a very handsome sum.

I've searched my browser's history for the last 3 or 4 months, and couldn't find the post I was reading. Unfortunately, I ALSO didn't contribute to the thread so it's also not in my profile's history.

If anyone reading this knows who I'm talking about, or if you think you can help me try and sell this domain, please let me know.

Thanks!

Why not make it a celebrity type fan site, get some traffic, make some sales, then flip it for really big bucks...

P.S. Kinda lucked into this one

That was kind of my thinking also, but there's a lot of legalities involved with that sort of thing. Granted, according the the U.S. trademark office, I registered the domain way before the group existed or trademarked their name.

I haven't monetized the site using their brand. Come to think of it, I haven't monetized the site at all.

I registered it solely for personal use before they even existed. If I try to monetize it using their brand, I could get into all sorts of legal mumbo jumbo.

I think you should try to develop it, get a decent PR on it, rank for some searches etc.. wait in hopes that this group becomes really big in the future - it could be worth A LOT!

I would say to develop it but not fully because as the old cowboy saying goes, "You've got the cow by its balls!".

Don't go to them and ask for an offer. Instead let them come to you and make the deal that way.

I do alot of domaining for the past 5 years so its not new to me. I'd say be patient and make sure there's a contact form on your site.

No need to monetize the site . You have two rich dads who would have no problems spending large amounts of money on their daughters. Sell it to them

Find a broker and get that cash.

Find a lawyer, immediately, if your plan is to monetize or make something out of this site at all.

What I'm saying is don't take legal advice from any online forum, and make sure you are protected.

The last thing you need is to spend a month or more working on this site, only to have it taken away in a heartbeat.

I could be mistaken, but I believe Gene Pimentel may be someone of interest for you to contact.
