I feel like this is WAY TOO OVERWHELMING

Hey everyone,
since I am new to these forums, let me begin by introducing myself;
My name is Mike Pfeiffer, I am 19 years old, I live in Germany, just finished school and I am taking a year off right now to just travel a bit, do some charity work and find out what I want to do in the future.

Ive been reading a lot about internet marketing lately and everyone seems to be making thousands of dollars. In the 'Special Offers' forum everyone claims that their product will help me make 'money fast' and its 'guaranteed', but seriously, where do I start?

I'm 19 years old, don't have a steady job yet, I cant afford to pay for thousands of different programs. How do I know which one to pick?

Honestly:
I am willing to put a LOT of work into it, if it pays off. Like I said, I am taking a year off , then I'll start going to college. So basically I could possibly work 8 hours a day.

The thing is, I have never written any articles before, and I definitely dont know how to write an ebook...
I am wondering, with so many marketers, is their still room for more?
I am fluent in German, English and French, could that help me by any means, or doesnt that really matter?

Can I actually expect to make 1000$ and more a month if I put some work into it?

Is it actually possible to make a living off it?

Yes it's possible but a WSO isn't going to make you money - you're the one who's gonna make you money if you treat it like a real business and you're not going to make thousands overnight. It takes time and you have to build it layer by layer.

First, break it down into easy to manage steps and it all becomes fairly easy.

Picking a business model is going to be the toughest part. Product creation works for me.. but it doesn't work for everybody.

Have you done any niche research yet or have any ideas of what area you'd like to jump into?

What are your skills / knowledge that people would be willing to pay for?

Here's what works for me.. might give you a basic idea where to start:
    • Keyword research - finding high traffic / low competition keywords
    • Setting up a self hosted wordpress site
    • Setting up a mailing list
    • Creating a lead magnet (free report in exchange for email addy)
    • Making affiliate offer or own product at download page
A fairly straight forward way to get started.

Yes it does seem overwhelming for a while. I suggest that you take your time before buying anything. There are some brilliant threads on this forum giving step by step tuition and nobody should mind if you ask questions.

You can also get some free training from Ed Dale at challenge.co

Once you have more of an idea of what you want to do and how to go about it then think about buying, but personally I wouldn't go for the overhyped stuff. If I was just starting out I would read lots of posts on this forum and take notice of who seems to know what they are talking about and has respect of other members. If they have a promising link in their sig check it out.

      Hi Mike

      Welcome.

I think, what is the most important is that you start by making some considerations as to what kind of a business you want to build, and make sure that it is in a niche that has your interest.

A lot of people who discover this forum spend time only in the WSO section looking for "the right product/method" for them. I've personally done quite a bit of WSO-hopping in the past, so I know what I'm talking about.

There are a lot of good products to find in the WSO section (and a lot of crappy ones) but in my opinion none of them can tell you what the right direction for you is. You have to figure that out on your own, and then you can look for good product that can help you if you want to.

Start by taking a look around the forum and get familiar with different ways of making money online. When you find one you like, research more specifically what other people are doing to make money with that, and start doing the same thing.

About your writing skills, don't worry about getting everything perfect. If you are just out of high school, you have probably turned in lots of written papers during the last years, so you already know how to write. And if you focus on providing value in what you write, whether you write perfectly is secondary.

It is more than possible but not if you hang around the WSO section looking for something easy.

There is great free information on this forum especially the War Room. Look over threads on peoples favorite products then choose one and get stuck in not leaving the system until you are earning.

Difficult to do at the start but everyone was the same at the start and are only successful when they do what is stated above.

The other way if you have a budget is to find a mentor with good feedback, this keeps you focused.

    Good Luck with it.

    Hi,

I think you should continue browsing and reading the forums and keep visiting back, search both the forums and google for any questions you may have ticking in your head. There is so much free information out there, that is the beauty of the internet, so make use of it and do not go spending your money on all kinds of products, especially the ones that often sound too good to be true, you want to be learning some solid foundations first.

You need to build a basic grasp of what you would like to do and then think about a plan of how you are going to begin, for example hosting a small website that focuses on selling Clickbank products.

I will say though, study one method and don't study ten different methods at once. It will save you time in the long run.

As for articles/content etc, you can outsource work here on the forums to reputable members or use sites such as odesk.com if that is what you wish to do, if you don't feel comfortable writing content or you want it to be very good.

You need to be able to put as much time as possible into learning/working on your business for it to grow and succeed, this takes persistence and patience, don't buy into the instant riches stuff. Also since you have time off and show an interest, then I'd suggest what you said about "possibly working 8 hours a day" should in fact be "I am working 8 hours a day or more on a solid plan"

    Best of luck to you

Information Overload would be expected to all new members here, and my advice would be to take one step at a time. Read a couple of threads, take a break, re-read them so you understand. There are some great topics in the Mind Warriors - Success, Power, Self-Improvement section to keep you motivated.

I would suggest you upgrade to War room member status, there are some great freebies in there that can help you tons.

Try voice overs. If you know 3 fluent languages, that already gives a really nice impression on you. First start off by working with a company, then move onto building your own voice over company and hiring others.

As for the WSO's, huge tip, there's about 500 good looking WSO's that you may choose from, cross out the ones with 'get rich quick' formula, that'll leave you with about 50 of them .

    Welcome to the forum.

    Here's the reality.

MOST people are NOT making thousands of dollars.

I know, that's like saying people are lying but I really think it's easy to get misled because there are a lot of people who will say anything in order to part you with your money.

    Don't get suckered in.

It is definitely possible to make some great money but it's much more likely to happen if you treat your business like any other business and get a proper plan together than gives you a clear focus of where to put your efforts and what to expect from them in return.

If you get tempted to get into something and you find yourself thinking "well I can see how that could work" but if I asked you "so how much will you make in month 1 and who will that money come from?" and you have no idea or your answer is "whoever wants it" or "anyone" then you're probably on the wrong path.

Even if you don't intend to spend any money to get started ask yourself "what would my bank manager say if I asked him for $100k to invest in THIS business?" if you think he'd tell you no because he can't see how it's ever going to make the money back (and more) then rethink your plans.

Many people get started in IM with no plan and think that because they managed to make a few hundred dollars in a few months that this equates to being successful - but if you said that about any other business (you spent 4 months working all your spare time for a few hundred dollars - and maybe even spent that (or more) as well) - you would laugh yourself back to McDonalds where they'll pay you more for your time.

Don't let people telling you "hey try this - it works" confuse you that it's actually worth doing as a business.

It's easy to scratch a few dollars here and there but you want to aim higher and get it right from the start - don't expect miraculous immediate money or you'll get disappointed really quick and be struggling for motivation.

Take it seriously and look at where you can bring value to people who want to pay for it and you can definitely create a profitable business - treat it like a hobby and jump from thing to thing and you'll be disappointed.

Don't let the sales letters and BS trick you - most people are not successful, the same as in every day life. Some people 'appear' successful and then you find out they were living off credit and lost everything - the same goes online. I've known people who 'were' making money online but now are struggling.

Let your gut and your brain be your guide and don't get suckered into get rich quick dreams others are selling to gullible and desperate people.

Thankyou so much for asking this question, because I was on the verge of asking it too. This forum looks great, but it is easy to feel overwhelmed at first.

I am taking a different approach. My aim is not to make money from my blog or online marketing ideas - I am letting them grow organically from the work I do and enjoy.

As a freelance writer I already make a good income from writing, but am fairly new to blogging. But what I do know is that if you provide good value, you will be rewarded for it.

I may be technically challenged, but I am aware that I can write and given time I will learn the other skills necessary. maybe you need to relieve yourself of some of the pressure to make money and just give it a while to all sink in.

Don't start buying WSOs with wild claims of fantastic incomes without doing much work or spending much time. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

    There are no magic bullets.

You need to just read the forum and put in the research and figure out for yourself what you'd like to do and then learn about that.

If you buy WSO after WSO, you'll end up broke and confused.

I will make a confession to you and the rest of the Warriors. All I did for the first 30 days was buy WSO's. Many of them were er... complete crap. Others were good, but where I really learned stuff was just by reading other's posts on here. I asked A LOT of questions and indeed I'm still asking them. It's really easy to get distracted I agree, but if you honestly say to yourself I would like to focus on one aspect and put it into action, you'll fare extremely well. And don't forget to give your chosen method at least 30 days to work.

    Good luck!

      Hi Mike

One of the Warrior Forum Members called Zac has got a course in Internet Marketing going on at the moment where he guarantees to refund more than your training cost if you fail to make $500 profit at the end of the course.

Here is a the WSO, it is not an affiliate link: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...eo-proof.html?

It could save you a lot of headaches! But be quick as his last one sold out in 5 hours!

      Hope this helps

I haven't bought that many WSOs, but I agree with you that the best learning comes from reading the various threads! These are my peers,
these are the real-world examples I can learn more from than the pixie dust crowd and high-pressure sociopaths.

With the WSOs, you do have to be very discriminating, and never reluctant to ask for a refund. Some of the best ones didn't have slick copywriting, but what convinced me was the genuine passion that came through on the technically "inferior" sales letter. Go figure.

My advice: dont buy any product (especially get-rich-quick guides, they are useless). You have to read - blogs (smartpassiveincome.com, Entrepreneurs-Journey.com, problogger.net and many others...) and forums - this one and forums.digitalpoint.com. I am sure that in german also exists similar forum.

PS: I am from Czech Republic (23 , not beginner, not millionaire), if you want to talk about this stuff or cooperate together, write me at restin77|at|gmail|dot|com.

Honestly the best way for me to get started doing something is just to do exactly that. Get started. Close your eyes and randomly pick something then go from there.

There are tons and tons of free information on the net so all you really need to do is pick something and start reading.

Okay okay I get what youre trying to tell me. I didnt expect to make thousands over night. I am willing to invest some time in it, but I want something that I can expect to work as long as I work on it.
I want something with the following equation: more work = more money.

I dont want to pay 20 euros a month for domain hosting and work hours on creating pages if it doesnt pay out in the end. Do you get what I am saying?

Ive heard a lot of positive things about Google Sniper (2.0) but hey, who am I to be the judge of that?

I am just starting with this and know nothing about writing e-books etc. I mean, I am 19 years old, I am just getting started, I have not much knowledge to offer - at least not enough to get people to pay for it yet.

I just wish I had some people that would work with me, start a business , etc.
Its kinda hard to get started ..

George's Google Sniper is one of the very few products I promote. It is a very good product, and can save a lot of time. However, to use a product like this, you need to know what niche you are interested in first.

      • If I were 19, I would start by selling products or services.

Many young marketers I know got their start that way. And I mean physical products, not e-books or digital downloads. Because if it's one thing a 19 year old knows about (apart from, well, you-know-what) it's *stuff*. Kids are obsessed with stuff.

Identify a market. To gain inspiration, read some biographies. Michael Dell is a good start. Today he is one of the richest men in the world. But as a teen he made $18,000 one year while still in high school, bringing home more money than his teachers.

          Hey Mike,
There is literally a multitude of information out there and sometimes thats half the problem. So many get rich quick programs. The problem i had when i first stated out, was because there is an overwhelming amount of stuff out there - especially when you start to purchase a few bits and peices, you managed to end up on a gazillion lists so day after day the latest and greatest software was thrown at me. It makes it very hard to focus on one thing and finish it. I too have seen the google sniper 2.0, along with profit snather and a few others. What i am doing now is taking the information i learned through all of them a basically implementing my own system. Am i making money?? Not heaps just yet, but thats ok because i know i will be making money very soon. I am currently going through Tristian Bulls one on one internet marketing coaching program. Its around $500 but it teaches you about list building and a whole heap of other cool stuff i otherwise wouldnt know about. I havent been doing this for long - a few months now. I can see so much potential though.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do. Only now am i understanding the importance of focusing on one thing at once - or it just gets far too overwhelming and i will fail.

Overwhelm is possibly the number one problem facing Internet marketers. It leads to analysis paralysis. The cure is to take action. Make it a habit of immediately applying what you read. For every one hour of reading, take one hour of action. Remember that real learning happens only when you actually apply what you have read!

    Mike,

It's good that you're asking questions, it shows that you're smart enough to know that what everyone tells you isn't necessarily true. Forget about income claims, even if they are true, it may not work for you the same way it did for someone else. Also, as you no doubt seem to realize, many of these claims aren't true, are twisted to appear to be something they are not, or are too hard for someone without specific skills to do until the accumulate those skills.

Someone mentioned 30Day challenge and I think that is a good place to learn. However, I think you have to decide what kind of work you like to do and will do. You mentioned articles, that can be a good place to start. If you like to write, pick a subject and dive in. You will succeed if you develop good content and get that good content in front of enough people.

I am going to recommend that you get Paul Myers free book Need To Know. You can get it at his website TalkBizNews. It gives a pretty good overview on the important things you need to know to succeed online. Paul is a moderator here and gives a pretty straight account of building an internet business. I would not recommend you buy anything until you understand what knowledge gaps you need to fill and I think Paul's book will help you with that foundation.

My final word, identify your strengths and how you can best utilize them to succeed.

    Regards,

    Wayne

One of the things I struggled with was the difference between doing what I wanted to do and finding a niche that would make me money. As it stands, I decided to do what I wanted to do and to then find information that would help me achieve it. I like making videos and creating animated graphics. So I'm using the information here to take what I like to do and become better at driving traffic, writing articles, understanding backlinks and social media to help me grow my business. I'm also looking at how that can eventually turn into a source of passive income down the road. So there is that.

That way when I'm researching backlinking, or writing articles, or word press plug ins, I'm not overwhelmed because I know this one subject is just a part of my over all plan.

Decide what you want to do first, and then make the information you gather serve the plan.

If you want to start a business online/offline be prepared to invest a ton of time actually building a business. You better learn to become an internet marketer because you want to and you like marketing, not because of the "easy money" (that doesn't exist, easy money and a large amount of money aren't the same thing). It's possible to make a lot of money, but it's also possible to make a lot of money through a lot of different types of businesses online and off. There's millionaires who own businesses specializing in sewage etc.

Maybe you should seriously think about building a business around what you have a passion in, and then teaming up with an internet marketer. (Unless you do have a passion for marketing of course) It's not easy, neither is getting a job or anything else. You start off with a large amount of "inertia" where you try and get to a point where you're happy with your life.

One of the most important aspects of building a business is having access to talent. In a small business that's you. If you aren't good at internet marketing and your in the business of internet marketing your business is going to suck, and you're going to spend the next 2-3 years struggling and getting an education before you go anywhere. (Unless you get lucky, it's def. possible).

Your business has a huge headstart if you have and make use of your talents, unless/until you're in a position to buy talent.

From a professional cynic, who believes you can achieve whatever you want if you're ready to invest a lot of time and effort. (Possibly your whole life depending on your goal)

This is a plug for Chris Rempel's 'The Lazy Affiliate Marketer'. Don't be fooled by the title.

Chris is brilliant, always spot on the bottom line, and honest. He does not mince words and he makes a lot of money keeping things simple.

I would pick one or two well-thought out 'methods' and totally focus on nothing else for a year. Get rid of all the crap barraging your inbox and computer. Not to mention your head.

One thing perfected, then move on adding a layer, while repeating the perfected system of the first venture.

      hey new here, first post....

You CAN absolutely make $1000 a month.
There are a gazillion marketers and there's always room.

It's hard to focus in this biz, especially when you're starting out. It's normal... you're young and eager to make it big. Good thing is you're willing to learn and seem to be genuinely interested in putting in the work necessary to make this happen. Hunger for success is key...

I always say you have to - Take Action With Preciseness!
Take action, get moving BUT do the right stuff.

You'll start figuring out what's right by spending hours reading and learning.
Like Warriors already pointed you, no one WSO will make you rich.

You see, that's what I am trying to say. At least 5 people in this thread have already told me 'Check this out, this will work / this will help' , and I'm sure it might, but the thing is that I dont know where to start. If I asked, whats the best way to start, I'd get at least 10 different answers right?

I was thinking that at first I want to promote other products. I mean, I'm 19, I cant really write my own e-book yet, I dont have enough experience yet.

I am interested in two things right now:

    Google Sniper 2.0
    and
Tristan Bull's one on one coaching. He promises you'll have made at least 5000 dollars after you finish the course, or you get your money back. But I dont know if I can trust either one of them.

      Hi Mike

I only promote two 'products', and Google Sniper is one of them. If you want help with your niche searches GS2 is, in my opinion the best one out there.

Tristan Bull. Never heard of him (but he's never heard of me either).

Get your money back? Hmm. I take it you receive a legally binding affadavit to that effect? I don't think so.

The last time I saw this type of promise, I investigated the terms.

Hidden in there were the expressions, "must have applied all the steps supplied", and "must have removed all the elements of the cpurse from your PC".
This is the fun bit, "must supply evidence of the conditions . . .".

How do you supply evidence that you followed instruction, and removed the stuff from your computer?

Take a closer look, my friend.
Also check whether the product is bought via Clickbank, or similar. If it is, you may have recourse to refund through them. If not, you could be stuffed!

I would look VERY VERY CLOSELY at the terms again. Very suspicious. Try looking him up on IM Report Card. They may have some info.

In fact, while you're at IM Report Card, look up Google Sniper too. Don't take my word for it.

Perhaps you could ask for a legal document saying that if you don't make $5000 in a week, he will pay you $5000.

There are some excellent trainers/mentors/coaches around.

I would walk quietly away from this one - at high speed.

      Cheers

      Alan

I've never tried either of those 2 courses, but I'm pretty sure, that the Tristan Bull coaching is about creating products and marketing affiliate products in the IM niche and Google Sniper is about setting up niche sites that promote affiliate products in whatever niche you choose.

I've no doubt that the basic principles of these courses are profitable to lots of people, but are they what YOU want to do?

I think that you should start by deciding, what you want to work with.
Making niche sites is boring in my opinion. It's basically just doing the same stuff over and over again and sometimes having to do research about niches that are not really interesting to me, so personally I have a hard time imagining myself doing that every day. But if it sounds compelling to you, I don't see a reason why you shouldn't do it.

Just make sure that whatever you pick is something that can not only make you money, butr put a big fat smile on your face as well.

        Hi Mike,

Since online and offline marketing don't seem to be all that much different, it could be helpful to look into a cheap marketing course. I took a marketing course from a local college earlier this year and loved it.

IM is basically a mix of marketing and technology.

Marketing is how you go about selling to your audience.

Technology is how you reach your audience.

The people on the forum take those two factors and produce thousands of techniques. It's a lot less threatening when you see it as two big principles instead of a million small ones.

A service is the easiest way to start IMO. Choose either technology or marketing and ask yourself... "What can I offer?". Help people reach their audience or help them sell to their audience. Lots of money and learning to be had.

Well I'm going to recommend that you take a course from one of our beloved Warrior members. Willie Crawford has an affiliate marketers course and it will get you started, it's only $17/month. You need to learn how affiliate marketing works and you may as well learn from the best person to show you how to do it. Willie has an exceptional (to say the least) reputation around here, as well as away from here. And he's always in here helping people, I'm proud to call him a friend and you will learn a lot from him.

My friends over at FreeBlogFactory.com can hook you up with a Free blog and hosting for a month and their rates per month after that are DIRT cheap. They go the extra mile helping you set up your blog, suggest plugins, you name it and they've got an awesome rep too.

You will need some cheap work done to get going if you don't have mad skills creating banners, video's, getting traffic etc. I suggest heading over to Fiverr.com and grabbing it from over there. Last night I spent $100 there, got some banners for a couple new sites, a few drawings, video's, logo's, fan page templates and some traffic. Look for folks with a lot of positive feedback, read the comments and you should be okay.

Other advice, unlike others, I'm going to tell you, NOT to waste time reading tons of stuff, because you will be overwhelmed and you need to pick something and stick with it. Good luck.

There are so many different ways to make money online, and a lot of them that you can do for free. What you really need to think about is what you want to do.

You can offer services on Fiver for free. It's a good way to start, just make sure that it's something you can do in a reasonable amount of time. You don't want to be doing an hours worth of work for only $4. One great thing about using Fiverr is that, if your service is good, you can start building a list of loyal customers who you can upsell other more expensive services to outside of Fiverr.

If you want to get into affiliate marketing but aren't sure a method will work and don't want to spend a lot of money with it, you can use Blogger to build free websites until you find a method that works and then move on to building your own websites with paid domains and hosting.

There are a lot of things that you can do with Blogger, like creating blogs for Adsense, making sniper blogs, throwing up websites for affiliate products. You could even put your own product on a Blogger blog and promote it using free methods.

Doing things that way will allow you to overcome the learning curve without shelling out tons of money.

I'd also like to recommend : The Challenge
It's been a long time since I've gone through it, but I believe that it's still a good way to get started.

It would be better for you to focus on one aspect of internet marketing e,g. SEO and master that before moving on to different techniques. What you could do is buy a wso that is newbie friendly and step by step on making money online. You just have to take action and stick to it, you'll keep learning new things.

People make $1k+ a day with cpa and affiliate marketing. It's all about controlling traffic.

First you need to research what you want to promote/sell.

Secondly, you need to research all the traffic methods. SEO, social, ppc etc.. Pick one.

    Lastly, keep testing.

One of the biggest mistakes you can make is buying every WSO that comes out (trust me I know). There is some good information in WSO's, but buying them does you no good. You need to pick one strategy and keep doing it until you make money with it, then you can branch out.

      Hi Mike,

Yes you can make money on the internet. It is defiantely not easy. Please DO NOT buy any of the get rich schemes, trust me I have thousands of manuals sitting on my desk collecting rubbish. These things just don't work!! You will need to go through a learning curve, firstly action is the key, so take action. Learn as much as you can about Internet marketing , learning is knowledge.

      Wishing you success.

The online marketing stuff can be overwhealming.

How bout you ween into it and earn while you learn. Sell some of your stuff on ebay, or buy wholesale and sell for more on ebay.

Some of the most interesting and succeessful marketers started that way. And that is how i got a taste. You need to learn the basic principles and experiece everything first hand and ebay might give you this edge. Maybe you could start here???

Its kind of funny. I'm more overwhelmed than before.
I think I'll go with google sniper 2.0

Everyone keeps asking me what I want to do, what niche I want to pick. To be honest, I have no idea.
I am not doing this because I have a passion for marketing. I am doing this to earn money.
I am not looking for a quick fix , but if I am willing to work, hours a day, then I would be disappointed not to see results, do you get what I am saying?

Everyone does, but if you are going to work hours a day, it's preferable to work with a topic ("niche") that you enjoy. Someone can tell you 'oh you'll make a lot of money with a site for lathes'--but if you don't know anything about them, it's going to be harder for you to put together a site that customers will appreciate and therefore *buy* from. Possible, but more difficult.

There's no absolute guarantee, as far as I can tell. Of course people who sell products will tell you there is because they are trying to sell you something.

I mean, if you do find the golden goose, please share

    Hey Mike,
I havn't read through responses to your thread, but immediatly picked up on a couple of things you said.

To start it is natural to feel overwhelmed when first starting out in IM. We all go through it, and even the more seasoned marketers have there moments I promise you.

Firstly, DON'T read into what other people are trying to sell you to much. This is a sure recipe for disaster.. jumping from one product to the next only distracts you from your goals..

Now there are many avenues to explore with IM, and you will fumble a bit untill you find your feet and start to see things clearer.

Eventually you will work out for yourself which route you want to take to establish your online business.

You also state "you are willing to work hard".. this is the best tool you can have in your arsenary. Only through trial and error and learning will you be able to lift the fog!

    Hope that helps..
