Are there any ways or methods to getting free websites? For someone who is a bit tight on funds what could they do other than getting a free blog from blogger (but maybe along those lines) to get a few sites on the internet for adsense/content? Thanks.

You can get free domains at co.cc or buy a .info domain for .99 cents at GoDaddy or 1and1.

When you do buy a domain 1and1 seems to have some really great deals.

Try yola.com. No fee, no need to learn html, free hosting, and although I have not used this option, you can have a free ''.yolasite'' domain. I know zero about coding, but Yola is all drag and drop stuff, by far the simplest way to get a website up. And I'm not an affiliate of them, just a happy customer.

Start with Squidoo Lenses. Free and get ranked quite easily in Google and Squidoo handle the ads/affiliate earnings.

You can look for FREE hosting sites where you can easily setup a content blog or website. You can get free domain names such as co.cc OR co.nz for your use as well.

I wish you all the best.

exactly, to create a real business or website, you need a top level domain and not free stuff

well, just buy the domain and own it. Its a business and definitely you want ownership. After which you can just get free webhosting providers to host that domain. Request in forum for instance or go for free unix shell providers and ask them if you can host your domain name.

Your business will only be worth what you invest and put into it. I can't remember the last time I saw a Squidoo page in the serps when I was searching for something or the last time I was compelled to actually read a HubPages or Squidoo page or a Blogger blog. I tend to discount them in my mind as not REAL info and skip over them in the serps if they actually make it to the front page.

Hostgator has pretty cheap hosting and domains aren't that expensive if you buy an .info domain. Offer a service based on skills you might have until you have some money to put together some sites the right way.

I know you said you are tight on funds but they are right, free in the long run will cost. Clients see that you are running a free site and free domain they will not take it seriously. There are a lot of inexpensive options out there that will work and a .info domain is cheap like the others said.

I am always interested in helping when I can....PM me about what you want to do. I may help you by setting a site up on my hosting and letting you pay me later. I have done this in the past and am always open to talking.

Recently I needed some repairs done around the house and a friend had a few business cards of tradies that he had used.

One of the cards had on the back "get your free business cards from xyx"

To me it put me right off calling that one even though for all I knew he could have been the best out of the lot.

I was put off as the thought "So he scrimps on business cards so what else will he scrimp on whilst completing the job"

I think the same comes to mind when I see "free websites" as I end up with the thought "if this guy is good at what he does then he should be able to afford his own website"

I know my views might seem harsh but I am sure I am not alone in such thoughts and the thing to remember those who may think the same are potential customers.

I've done ok with Hubpages and their Adsense sharing. It comes down to making good Hubs that people will actually read. I'm just starting out building my own Adsense sites. Robert Bayes
