Hi,

Has anyone been a success at there first try in internet marketing?

I have tried and failed about 3 times now. Is that just me, or does everyone fail at first?

I want to keep going and trying, but it is hard to stay positive. How many times have you tried? How much money did you spend before you started making money?

    Back in 1999, I think it was, I spent $20, and within about a day, made my first $10. The next few days I got a few more orders, for maybe a total of $100-$150.

    However, I had done a bunch of work/preparation before spending that first $20, which was probably about 3-4 months.

    I have not and Im sure many other here have not also. Although you can get lucky on some campaigns but that's all pure luck.

    And also I don't feel I have the creativity to do something different. And as far as what I can see, I think that is what you need to be a success, to be able to think outside the box.

    Success to me is been able to live without having to think about paying bill's. Knowing there is plenty of money in the bank to cover them. Been able to book a holiday (Vacation) the day before you go, not having to save the money for a full year. Been able to go were ever you want when ever you want.
    That is success in my eyes...

      So, you're original question was..... "has anyone been a success at their first try at internet marketing"

      I'd imagine, given your definition of success, that it's a very rare person who'd be able to claim, "yes" to this question!

    I think anyone that tells you they succeeded on their first try is either lying or extremely lucky. Most of the most successful marketers I know spent several years trying, failing and trying some more. Anything worth learning takes time - I mean, you can't get a college degree by opening one book.

      Depends on how you define successful.

      Yes, I was lucky on my first try. I wrote an ebook and marketed it with Adwords. Wasn't anything huge, but it was my first try and I was just trying to see for myself if it could actually work.

      I ended up making between $75 and $250 a month with that. I was thrilled as a first-timer. To me, that was a success. To others that may suck.

      Then I finished my degree, applied for a "real world" job and got one.

      I then sold the site and ebook for $1500 right here on the warrior forum. Which really seemed crazy to me and I was happy.

      Now that the "real world" job has gotten boring, I'm back to IM. (While still working the job.) If I knew then what I know now, I would not have sold the ebook/website. But we live and learn.

      So, you can be successful on the first try, but of course, it does involve some luck.

      In that first attempt, I just went for it. I didn't care if it failed or what people thought. I just wanted to do it. I just went all out and did it.

      I've also had some failures now this second time around. It happens. Nothing that I get upset over. They either work and I continue growing them... or they don't and I ditch it and move on.

    I was not lucky enough to get it right on the first try... or the 2nd or third.. 4th. Who knows how many times I tried until finally something worked and I had success. That is why you don't give up as the very next thing could be your ticket to success!

    I think many of us have failed along the way with internet marketing. It can take some time to really decide exactly what you want to do online and then set up a plan to do it. You really need to be dedicated and determined to make your business a success.

    Don't give up just because you have failed, failure is there to learn from, it is just a step along the way to success!

    When you say you've failed, what do you mean?

    Do you mean that you've tried something and it's not gone the way you expected? Have you learned something from it that you can take to your next project? If so, that's not failure, that's LEARNING and we all do it, all the time - it helps us get better at things and isn't failure at all.

    Or, do you mean that you've tried something and it's not gone as you hoped, so you've ended that project and started another one? I think it's too easy to get caught up in the next money-making method and keep chopping and changing, without seeing a project through. If that's you, maybe you should choose an area you're interested in, follow ONE program and stick at it until you are happy with your success, then either scale it up or move to your next project.

    Ok, so things aren't going to work out just the way we want them to be, the first time, every time. But, if you stick at it, learn to do it well, then you will succeed.

    I don't remember which try was it. perhaps, 100?? Believe it or not, I had taken more than 3 years for little bit of or appreciable success.

    I did not get it in my first try and already tried couple of times but yet didn't get any success bcoz I am not focused and I am not showing continuous passion and I am not working hard continuously to get success in this industry.

    Hi there,

    I have been trying to build an internet business. I can tell you now that it is no way easy. Yes I have spent thousands of pounds and when I say thousands of pounds I mean it. Up till today I have made NO MONEY, but my failure does not deter me from my goal of working from home earning a substantial income.
    I created a website now and I am populating to get ready to make money and offer sound advice.

    So please do not give up, by the way I am not creative either but I have started to think outside the box. I'm not sure whether my site wil be a success but my aim and intention is to MAKE IT in the IM world ...so will plod along.

    I have hundreds of sites that I consider failures. Many failed because I abondened them early. Others failed because I simply wasn't passionate about the niche or subject.

    Failure is common in internet marketing, and those that have been successful kept on going. If you give up early in internet marketing it'd be a shame. Failure teaches you and its how you grow.

    You didn't tell us what you have done to try to make money. Have you been chasing magic bullets or building a business? If you've been chasing get rich quick schemes, you're likely to fail a lot more than you already have.

    There are a lot of ways to make money online but they require a plan, some skills and a lot of work. Without the plan, you're just throwing spaghetti at a wall to see what sticks.

    As for me, i got no success at first try. It's been years now with this business and sometimes still experiencing failures.

      My very first try, I did have some success, but it wasn't doing what I really wanted to do. I was providing an online writing service, and I only started offering it because I already knew there was demand for it, and I already had the skills needed to earn from it. So, in that sense, limited and temporary though it was, I suppose you could say I was "successful" quickly. I spent almost nothing - maybe $50.

      My second try was a nightmare and a disaster. Again, I spent very little in terms of cash, but I invested about 3 months' hard work for almost no reward. This was when I first set up my article marketing/ClickBank affiliate business, not knowing what I was doing.

      I did just about everything wrong that you can possibly do wrong ...

      - I thought "article marketing" meant "using article directories";
      - I depended on article directories for traffic and backlinks;
      - I promoted high-gravity ClickBank products;
      - I promoted products with a vendor's opt-in on their sales pages;
      - I wrote short articles with a prominent "call to action" in the resource-box;
      - I used "spinning" and "submission" software, imagining they'd be of benefit;
      - I followed beginners' guides' advice and "consensus of opinion" advice;
      - I took SEO advice from people in forums (and from e-books I bought) without really knowing who they were or whether they knew what they were talking about (and it turned out they didn't).

      In short, I had no idea what I was doing at all, and even though I thought my article-writing skills were way above average, unsurprisingly I hardly earned anything at all. Disaster City, in other words.

      My third attempt was considerably better - and pretty quickly - once it started ... I'm now growing a real asset-based business which produces increasing residual income every month, but it was a big learning-curve for me to get there.
