Hello, Okay.. I've read several articles on RSS feeds and all that but I think i'm running in circles: What I understand: RSS will allow your blog entry to be viewed on other people's websites who host RSS feed as their blog entries. So your Blog entry that is setup as a RSS feed can possibly be listed any many other websites providing Traffic and back links (Right?) What I don't get: I'm running a WordPress blog right now (2.7) and I can't figure out for the life of me how to make my entries RSS , THEN submit them to RSS sites that will link them to other peoples feeds? What will me Feed URL be? Will it be the Blog entry? Or will it be the entire blog.. www.blog.com ? I've been trying to figure this out for some time and i'm getting frustrated. I hope someone can help me. ALSO I just pinged my blog, when I have a RSS feed, do I have to ping each article? Or just the entire blog? Thanks! |

Rss Feeds are for subscribing to blogs (or whatever has RSS) so you will be updated of any new posts. This is what my RSS feed reader looks like. ![]() Since you are a publisher and are (hopefully) building a readership to your blog, RSS allows people to subscribe. For all your other questions, just Google it man. |

Ah ha! Thanks! Damn, that took forever to figure out for something so simple.. I event ried to write my own RSS feeds. Okay, so now that I've submitted my RSS feed to several feed aggregators, now what? Do I just sit back and wait for traffic? How do I maximize this process for best results? Thanks |

Make sure you add your feed to FeedBurner . Then look at the tools it gives you to publicize your feed. One obvious way is to have a clear RSS sign showing on your blog. Another is to use Feedburner's ability to set up a mailing list. Pearson |

I agree. I don't get very much traffic from feeds but the beauty of them is it's a quick method to build some backlinks. |

Trust me, I'm not sitting back and relaxing. I'm trying HARD to get up ot about 100 visitors a day organically. I submitting a minimum of 1 article per day, I'm commenting on blogs, yahoo answers..anywhere I can. RSS feeds seemed to be the next logical step. That's why I tried so hard to figure it out last night. |

Yeah, submitting the feed URL to aggregators is not about getting traffic. But if you're smart about putting good keyword based links back to your OWN site in your content, it will get picked up by republish sites and voila, instant targeted one-way backlinks, building continuously over time. Using a plugin like SEO Smart Links can make it easy to manage this task of automatically linking instances of your keywords to whatever you specify. If you combine that with something like RSSDoodle, you don't even need to think about remembering to include your keywords in your content. Just use the same target keywords in both plugins. Then take the category specific feed for the RSSDoodle output and submit that to aggregators, and voila - instant backlink building machine. Anyway, hope that makes sense and helps get your where you want to go! |

The link to RSS is visible in most Wordpress themes. If it is not visible in your WP blog main page (not on dashboard) consider installing a different theme. Right click and copy the URL of the feed and submit to RSS directories. My service Traffic-bug dot com has a RSS submissions service for cheap.

Keith you pulled up a thread from December?! xDennis, if you ever come back to read this, just note that you only have to submit your RSS feed urls to the aggregators one time (you don't keep submitting them each time you write a post). They will track whenever your RSS feed contains new content. |

| Yeah, that was my bad. I was reading a different newer thread which linked to this one as , and I didn't think to check the date before I responded. But I guess someone got something out of it, so not a total flub. That's what I get for posting so late at night. :P |

Well, since the thread is alive again... Don't forget about the built in Wordpress ping service under settings/writing. Do some research and add as many ping target url's as you can. This is far more effective then submitting feeds to a handful of aggregators. |

Wow Eric, I never realised that you could add to the Wordpress pinger. I will have to check it out. As a newbie I am not too sure what type of links I can add. Could you give me a hint please. |

To submit the RSS feed click on the Orange RSS symbol in the browser, grab the URL that comes up then add that at RSS feed Directory - Feedage.com This will get you some spiderbot love |

Don't forget to encourage your readers to subscribe. A lot of them read it in their Google readers. I don't have any way of proving it, but I think Google likes that. ![]() Also set up Hubpages and Squidoo lenses to pull your feeds. |
