Has anyone used Torrents to submit out PDF's and Videos?

An old tactic that goes back many years, over a decade...

Not just for finding a way to get illegal copies of stuff (not recommended), however, though I have used it in the past to send my stuff out (that i want sent out that is) technology and catalog of sites to use grows faster than I can catch up.

Who do you use to send out free PDF's, free videos, etc and how do you go about doing it?

zip up a file with a HTML file in there, either a straight file they can view on their PC, or a short cut to file in question you want to deliver traffic to.

And has your approach helped give you more traffic, or more ppl who are wanting to harvest your stuff without your permission on these sites?

I know that most are looking for freebies when searching these sites, etc, most are probably kids under 18yrs any way (out of the legal scopes of the industry I'm in); though have you noticed any good turns, or bad for that matter?

And what tactics have you used? mistitled the submission on purpose to get more views, ie, naming it something that resembles a porn flick or something? Popular movie? popular video game?

Cheers

I once .rar'ed up an ebook I wrote on Affiliate Marketing spattered with my affiliate links. I got a good amount of sales, but I think that's because I explicitly stated in the ebook that these were affiliate links to products that I personally use and that by clicking them you are supporting freedom of information due to the nature of "publishing" on a torrent site. Don't come off like you stole the ebook and put it up, tell them you wrote it and this is how you are choosing to distribute it. Most of them will respect that, honor among thieves eh?

It can work, because torrent sites get alot of traffic.. however the downside is that most people are looking to get stuff free

Self help and make money online books get downloaded like crazy on most sites I've seen. I see them pretty often on the "Top Torrents" list so I don't see why it wouldn't help.
