When you create a new page in WordPress, how do you make it so the permalink is just the sites main URL instead having a name at the end of it like http://www.domain.com/name-here

I have a site which is setup like this, but I outsourced this site so im not sure how they did it.

I tried removing the name at the end of the perma link but it displays it anyway.

Do you mean to have a page at the frontpage?

In that case, you can do this:
    Go to your WP-Admin panel
    Go to Setting > Reading
Change "Front page displays" from "Your latest posts" to "A static page (select below)" and select the title of your page.

Every page on the site can't have the same permalink. Are you trying to make a certain page your static main page? You can usually do that from within the page itself. There should be a box to check to make it a static page.
