Hi guys

So I have been lurking for a veeery long time. I have been learning about making money online/internet marketing for 4 years. To this day I still havent made any money . . I think I understand it is a mind block of my own. I need to just DO it. But I have learnt sooo much I feel I KNOW so much about internet marketing yet how do I implement it?? I get an idea and then an hour later I am thinking of ANOTHER great idea. Gosh. How did you people overcome "jumping" from idea to idea?? Its not even just internet marketing I am doing this with, I have also started (and got bored with) 2 offline businesses eeek . The one thing I have stuck to LEARNING about though is internet marketing.
I know once I can get this whole thing up and running it will be amazing, I just need to get there!!
Do I need to partner up with someone?? Write a checklist?? See my ideas coming again haha. Anyway thanks in advance to those who reply.

Do keyword research, write articles on those keywords, and learn both on and off page seo. That is the best way to start IMO. You can promote products on your website or just use adsense (or both).

Domain and hosting are highly recommended but not completely necessary. Make sure and put your main keyword in the domain.

        Lisa,

Your inability to remain focused (almost certainly the reason you're not making much headway) is probably a culmination of three things.

        - General impatience: "I want/need it now, and I'm prepared to jump ship to pursue something that looks superficially more appealing and more guaranteed." People are often impatient anyway, but it seems something of an epidemic where online business goes because of the profileration of "instant/overnight success" stories that lead people to believe the myth that building an online business is necessarily much easier, much quicker, and much more guaranteeing of a positive outcome than building one offline, for anyone who gets involved. Not so.

        - Lack of plan/clarity: This is pretty self-explanatory. Most people who become successful have followed a plan of/in some form or another. Not always a written one. They don't become successful by stumbling from crisis to crisis, "testing the waters" or "doing just a bit of this and that". Doing that may teach them what can't/won't work and give them a better idea of (or belief in) what's viable and where their strengths lie, but only when they've finally made a plan, and work toward it confidently and consistently, do they see real results ... in most cases.

        - Lack of certainty / self-confidence problems: When you're new and have no idea how anything works - or indeed what works - it's common to be running round like a headless chicken in an attempt to find your footing. This isn't necessarily a bad thing: for some people it's the only way they'll learn. But there comes a time, eventually, when you reach a point where you should feel confident of a business model's viability and just make the conscious decision to stick to it. It can be hard, because as much as you know (or feel you know), there are still no guarantees. But hey, guess what? There are rarely any guarantees of anything in life. There's no guarantee that when you drive your car, you won't end up in a head-on collision that paralyzes or kills you. There's no guarantee that when you marry, it'll last forever 'as it's really supposed to'. There's no guarantee that pregnancy won't result in a heart-breaking miscarriage. There's no guarantee that by experimenting in the kitchen, you won't make a total hash and waste all your ingredients. There's no guarantee that you'll get top marks or even pass any examination you ever take in life. There's no guarantee you won't get fired from your job tomorrow. There are hardly any guarantees - period. But that shouldn't stop you from trying. Indeed, the surest guarantee is that if you don't try, you don't know. If you don't attempt, you don't succeed. How long can you put things off before realising that if you're waiting for all risk/uncertainty to be magically eliminated from the equation, you'll literally be waiting until you die?

        Good luck.

Hey Lisa, if you have all these great ideas I would write them all down listing all the pros and cons and then I would go with the best one. Give it your all and then once you've established it I would start on the next one.

    Lisa,
I have a couple of thought for you.
    1. Get a coach. A coach can help you with the focus. Like you I could not focus and kept jumping from task to task without completing anything. After getting the coach, I now have 5 reports written, two sales pages written and in the process of launching my first product.
    2. Write as much as you can when you have the ideas and thoughts. Don't worry about what it looks like right now, just put the ideas on paper. Once you get your coach then you can go back and put things together properly.

    Hope this helps!!!

        Lisa,

Do a search here for coach. There are many folks on here who will gladly help you out. I also recommend joining the War Room. If you have enough material to make 20 WSOs then you are on your way!!! Look out Warrior Forum, here comes Lisa!!!

Also just a quick question. If you bought a video product would you be annoyed if it was in a kiwi accent??? I have been contemplating doing this but apparently us kiwis are a bit hard to understand hehe. Or would I be wiser to outsource the creation of the videos to say an american??? Thanks again to anyone who replies

Are you kidding, I love the kiwi accent. Maybe it's because I'm and Aussie, but I've no trouble at all understanding you guys.

Agree with Randy, you need a mentor/coach who can show you the way. Somebody who is already successful with IM. This will massively reduce your trial and error so you can concentrate exactly on what works.

    All the best,

You don't need our help with this problem. Only you can make yourself get off the pot and starting doing instead of talking about doing.

If you get bored and never follow through with anything, perhaps IM is not for you.

Well that just sux because I do!! I have learnt so freakn much over this last 4 years I am NOT letting it go to waste. I guess I just have to change my mind set huh?? I have actually never TALKED to anyone about this before, I dont think anyone in my town would even know what internet marketing is. . . and this is the first disccusion I have had on this forum.
Maybe even just talking so people experiencing the same things will help me focus.
      Thanks

Hi Lisa, before anything else, you need to make a decision on which part of IM you want to focus on. If, for example, you want to do affiliate marketing then pick one of the courses that you probably have in your hard drive and work on it from beginning to end. Stick to it no matter how boring the task is (e.g. backlinking is mind-numbing).

4 years of just learning is pretty long. It might be hard to break the habit of inaction but you sound determined. Many of these IM courses show a step-by-step procedure. Just follow them. That's all there is to it.

First I would suggest deciding exactly what you want to sell ... Then make sure there is a market for it.

Then it becomes rather easy ..

You need a vehicle to present your offer .. a promotional funnel ... a communication funnel ... a sales funnel .. and a delivery system

There is probably not a one of us on here that doesn't think of a new idea at least every hour. The deal is .. write it down but put it out of your head until you have completed one entire system.

Break down the entire process into mini-missions and do the step by step. Wavering from the plan is not an option or you will find yourself 5 years smart but no richer.

You may be what Barbara Sher call a "Scanner". I should know, I'm one myself.

What's a "Scanner", you ask? If you answer yes to most of the questions below, you're probably a Scanner:

"I can never stick to anything."
"I know I should focus on one thing, but which one?"
"I lose interest in things I thought would interest me forever."
"I keep going off on another tangent."
"I get bored as soon as I know how to do something."
"I can't stand to do anything twice."
"I keep changing my mind about what I want to do and end up doing nothing."
"I work at low-paying jobs because there's nothing I'm willing to commit to."
"I won't choose a career path because it might be the wrong one."
"I think everyone's put on this earth to do something; everyone but me, that is."
"I can't pay attention unless I'm doing many things at once."
"I pull away from what I'm doing because I'm afraid I'll miss something better."
"I'm too busy, but when I do find time I can't remember what I wanted to do."
"I'll never be an expert in anything. I feel like I'm always in a survey class."

Don't worry, though. Being a Scanner is not a bad thing, you're just wired differently. According to Barbara, "some individuals simply cannot, and should not, decide on a single path; they are genetically wired to pursue many areas. Sher calls them "Scanners"--people whose unique type of mind does not zero in on a single interest but rather scans the horizon, eager to explore everything they see."

I would definitely recommend you pick up Barbara's book, "Refuse to Choose". She's also got a very active online forum (Forum for Scanners) you should check out. I think it will help you a lot going forward because you need to first deal with the root of your problem: why you are indecisive and unable to commit to action.

I know that after I read her book I felt as if a heavy weight has been lifted. I also realized that I am in the perfect "profession". As an internet marketer, I am able to pursue different interests (i.e., niche) whenever I feel like it. I can wear many different hats which keeps me from being bored. In fact, being an IM'er demands that you wear different hats.

Once I realized I have so many options as an IM'er, I picked one which I felt can keep my interest for the longest and started with that one. I think you'll be quite relieved if you just pick something and run with it. You may or may not succeed with the first project, but you will definitely take what you learn on to the next project. I have started and dropped many projects over the years, but I got better with each one.

    Just do it!

You sound like I did. Choose only one course and follow it untill your successful. There are so many ways to make money online. Don't drown in the noise. Choose the one you like best and stick with it. Then when your successful with that put it on autopilot and do something else. F.O.C.U.S. Follow one course untill successful.

      Hi Lisa,
Love the answers some of the others have given you. I read that book by Barbara Sher and decided I have a lot of the characteristics of a scanner too. However I have found that I make great headway when I am determind to stick to just one method of making money online, for a period of time.

What I am going to suggest to you, is to find an accountability partner. Each day you decide what you want to achieve, then email your partner telling them. Your partner can then do the same and at the end of the day you email each other how you did and what you will do better tomorrow.

This person can be someone to talk things over with, help you make decisions, ask questions and at the end of the day a friend. I have found this helps hugely!!!!

BTW, you not only need to learn this business, you need a lot of EXPERIENCE and you are not going to get that unless you actually start!:-)

I have also sent you a private message.

lisakynan, I had gotten more than 3 years for little bit of or appreciable online success. Never worry about the past.

Here's what should you do now.......

You've 4 years experience in IM, and you've tested many ideas within the period.

    Ok,

Can you remember an idea allowed you to earn at least $1.00? The truth is this idea works for you.

Implement idea again on the internet, stick into it, start hard working.......

Imo, you are stuck in your comfort zone where you can not possibly fail
cuz you are just reading and learning and thinking about it.

Implementing can be scary as hell to the point of life or death in our minds.

You don't need a coach, you need therapy. Please do not take that as
