Anyone planning on using Office365?

It comes out of Beta today..

BBC News - Microsoft launches Office in the cloud

I haven't had much of a chance to look at it properly and would love to hear a few Internet marketers opinions on it.. I did a bit of digging on WF and couldn't find much.

As someone that works full time online whilst travelling around the world (South East Asia to be fairly precise) this is right up my street - the whole Microsoft Office suite 'in the cloud', this along with GMail and Dropbox... sounds like we're almost there!

Anyone using the beta version at all and have an opinion on this?

I haven't heard much of it either, I will be researching it and seeing if I will need it.

There's a pretty comprehensive review here by The Guardian newspaper but I'd prefer to hear opinions from people that work online

    Microsoft Office 365

It's being presented today in NYC by Steve Ballmer.

I am using Office365 for the past 3 months. Before that I tried a month free preview. If you are interested you can try the preview for one month, and its free. So far I found everything is OK. I never used google docs apart from opening some attachments from Gmail. Now-a-days everything is in the CLOUD.

    Thanks,

My uni gave it to all students for free (for the time we are studying) - so, yeah.

Great for Microsoft since a large portion of students will start paying for it once they finish their degrees.

I doubt it. I had free microsoft tools while i was a student: windows, visual studio, office, and other stuff i cannot remember. I never used them again. I only used windows for few more years and then I switched to linux.

It is a marketing strategy indeed, but there are better software that is free forever, not only trialware.

I've heard some great stuff about office15 from my peers and I'm not quite sure how it's the same with office 365 besides the cloud function. In all honesty, I know a good amount of stuff about cloud but I'm not really into using it unless it's for storage. And like what Jassen said, it can be unproductive for some.

But if you're looking for something offline, Office 15 provides the same utilities but it's not as cheap ($150+-$300+) as the monthly payments office365 asks from you.

Overall, I'm happy with my LibreOffice for most cases and Microsoft Office 2010 when needed. I'll probably give Office15 a shot in the future and see how it works with Office365.

I would not pay for cloud services for Office programs. I'd like to have everything locally stored on my end.
