Is Google Analytics not especially accurate?

I just set up Google Analytics on my webpage.

I just had an article approved by eZineArticles today. So far, I've had seven clicks on my resource box link (according to EZA) that point to said webpage.

However, Google is reporting only one visit and a 100% bounce rate. Granted, my page is an automatic redirect page (with a delay of 2 seconds, if I remember correctly), but I would expect Google to be faster on the draw and capture all touches to my page-- even the "bounces."

Is Google Analytics intended as a rough guideline rather than a precise reporting method? Or do you suppose it's usually very accurate and my redirect is messing it up?

    Your re-direct may be a problem. The JS has to completely load in the user's browser for the visit to be recorded. Visitors with JS turned off will not count at all.

    Also, GA updates are delayed, not real-time.

    I was wondering about the same thing. I checked my traffic log one
    day and noticed about a dozen visits from a social bookmarking site,
    can't remember which one. The next day I looked at GA and it had
    only 1 visit from that site. Are we just the first ones to notice the
    beginning of the downhill stretch and the end for Google?

    One thing to consider is GA only updates every 12 hours (at least for me).

    Mine is at 3:00 am EST (Yes, I've stayed up that late to check it a few times, lol).
