Making a Membershipsite - Video question?

Hi fellow warriors,

I'm building my first membershipsite right now (Weee, so excited !) and I've got a question. I've got a paid and a free part in this membership site and want some video's in there. My questions are:
-> Where to host my video's?
-> What videoplayer to use?

Thanks .
~Jelle

      Hi Marchenzo,

Okay . But I don't really get that amazon S3.

It costs you money for the amount of (giga)bytes you use per month? And for every time someone watches your video, it costs you some megabytes, right?

If you will be delivering self hosted videos, get to know Amazon S3.

I use EZS3 ( which is $20 a month ) to manage my amazon account, there are other ways which include a firefox plugin.

Unless you are sending tons of traffic, the price is extremely low. And even then, for what it does, the price and service is fantastic.

By hosting your videos and graphics on s3, you take any stress heavy traffic may cause on your servers and places it on amazon's "cloud".

I agree with Jamie. I use EZS3 too and it simplifies the Amazon process. For $20 you cant beat it and you can choose different players, lock down your videos... a lot of options.

    Hi Jelle,

I use Vimeo to host all my training videos. $70 per year for their "Plus" service and it is well worth it.

No extra fees for views. Video player is very customizable.

Setting up video players to play videos through S3 was a frustration for me.

I DO recommend S3 if you are letting people download large files.

My last WSO had 100 buyers and it cost me about $2 to deliver all the video files to my clients.

    My 2 cents..

    Good luck!

    Jelle,

The thing to consider with using AS3 is the cost is not bad if you compare to the bandwidth and resources your hosting account could use the same thing. AS3 will help cut down on the possibility of having to upgrade to a VPS or dedicated server, which can be expensive.

This is how I came to the decision to use AS3 and the price has been negligible.

For the video player, I have been using flowplayer on my sites and am very happy with how it sets up and works.

    Thanks,

    John

Sorry for this massive bump guys, but I think it's even more useless to start a new thread .

I've now decided to go with amazon S3. But... what videoplayer to go with? Are there good wordpress plugins for or, whatever? I hope someone can help me

    Well,

I'm going with easy video player + amazon S3. Bit of an investment, but some internet marketers I contacted (A big yay for the shy me!) advised me to go with that :p.

Don't want you to second guess your decision. I'm sure it's great. Just thought I would mention FV Wordpress Flowplayer.

JW Player is great. It's free and easy to use. Easy Video Player may be slightely better, however, it costs a whooping $127...
