Help Me Name My Business

Hey everyone! I have a business plan worked out, but not the name of the business, and I finally have enough money, so I'm ready to purchase the domain and hosting.

I'm thinking of having "MY LAST NAME Web Solutions", but I'm thinking it's too personal.

I want a unique and creative name that represents a business that does graphic design, content design, social media, mobile work, and other miscellaneous unique services.

Help me out, throw out a good name or two, and if it's really good, PM me the name.

Thank you WF!

I'm sorry to bump this, but I REALLY need help! I have to purchase these today and I don't have a name!

Would it be ok to go with "LAST NAME Web Solutions"? Please, let me know, I need feedback!

Have you run a few ideas on adwords to test it?

I would focus on the benefits. I named mine randomly because frankly, branding is not a on your customer's mind, getting a website that has a decent ROI is. Need proof? Name one website design company?

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

Do a keyword search. Find a keyword people are searching for related to your business that is not saturated, Under 100k competing sites at least, and incorporate that into your website name. Easier said than done but worth the effort for ranking purposes.

I would not use "MY LAST NAME Web Solutions". I tend to think long-term; "Built to Sell" (as John Warrillow would say). So, if you're trying to build a business that you can potentially grow and SELL in the future, having your LAST NAME in the company would not be as attractive to a potential buyer taking over the business.

    My Pick: Symphony Web Solutions

The .com is taken, unless he wants the .net which is still available.

      • Actually, I'd discard the Web Solutions part. I did a search on those terms you mentioned; almost no one uses "solutions" any more. It's hackneyed. And they don't use "web" at all.

You will be branding, so pick something relatively short. Here are some of my favorites out of the search (obviously these are already taken):

        invisible-ink.com
        katetallentdesigns.com
        wewanttraffic.com
        thehiredguns.com
        margaretsfolly.com

A domain name with an inherently strong visual element (such as one chosen from nature) would make your site design easier.

Without knowing more about you, it's hard to devise a name.

I liked the term "web consulting" as it's a generic term that can cover many different services and thought it would sound good with my surname so went with Wise Web Consulting.

There are a ton of graphic design and web consulting places on the net. People want things done fast.

So some name that starts with Instant, Fast, Quick, Ontime, Express would be good.

Instant Web Consulting - Express Web Consulting, etc.

A tagline about getting things done fast.

"Providing You Instant Web Solutions To Your Online Problems."

i recommend you to use Google keywords tool and search for a word that is searched or you can use your LAST NAME and do some SEO on it to fit in the first Google's page

I would spend time researching relevant keywords using Adwords (or similar) and find out via these statistics what your domain name could be.

A catchy title is fine on a shop window, but online advertising is a completely different animal.

People find you on the internet via relevant keywords. If you deal with relevancy, then people will find you, but if you come up with something like "SmithsWebSolutions" no one but you and your friends/family are going to type that in a search when looking for web designs companies.

For example, 2.7 million people search for "how to make a website" which doesn't sound very cool, but wouldn't you love to have the domain with those keywords?

    By the way--it's not available : )

    Hi,
It really depends what goes first short term business or long term branding. If you are looking for branding/going long term/building a business, then go for a more generic domain name. Then build several WordPress sites with search terms-friendly and buyer-friendly long tail keyword as domain names.

    1. “Web Design” (is more of a head term)
    2. “Web Training For Newbies” (long term keyword)
Long term keywords are easier to rank for = easier to get more targeted buyers

Use these WordPress sites to drive traffic to your “Generic Domain” and it is easy to expand you business with related products without having to build a new site, also as some one said it is then easier to sell the site in the future.

  • How about Warrior Web Design or Warrior Web Design Services?

That way you get web design in your domain and url, and you also have the Warrior there so Warrior Forum members will see immediate credibility.

I think you also need to decide whether you want your site to rank in the search engines. If you're doing offline marketing I don't think it matters so much as you will be marketing proactively to potential clients rather than gaining traffic from the search engines

I'm always a fan of something that will sound good when you say it and will look good on paper.

      Empire Enterprises
      Excelsior Solutions
      Dynamic Industries

or you could go all modern and webby with something sort of cute but nonsensical:
