Cannot reach my Wordpress Dashboard

One of my sites does not load the Wordpress dashboard. It only shows a white page with nothing on it.

Also, after attempting to access the dashboard, the site itself will only show the top of the page. It's like it never completely loads.

Has anyone else experienced this, or do you have any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Contact your hosting support, sounds like a plugin causing a problem or a server issue.

Some people have had trouble with some plugins when their host upgraded their PHP version to 5.3.6 You might check out this post http://www.warriorforum.com/programm...site-help.html to see if this might be your problem.

Thanks Chris for sharing the above post, I would have done the same if I saw this post sooner.

Mike - as you'll see the problem plugin for me was the wp auto update plugin. You can rename it but I just deleted it. No point in having a plugin sitting inactive if you can't use it! Hope you manage to get it sorted soon.

If you think you know which plugin killed your site, go into your FTP or cPanel File Manager and rename the folder of the offending plugin, then reload your admin page.

The renamed plugin will then be de-activated in WordPress and the site will load.

By process of elimination, you can eliminate the problem, then re-activate all plugins that are now known safe.

Have you checked to ensure file permissions haven't been accidentally changed?

That would be the last thing I look at, unless I had been changing file permissions recently.

Yes, you need to remember which plug-in that you have installed lately...
Then, try to delete it or change the destination folder... If still not fixed, you need to check your wordpress blog database, is it same in the wpconfig.php (rarely happen).

    Hi,

Plugins (for one reason or another) seem be the one of the biggest causes of WP issues.

If you can't get into the dashboard then simply FTP into your site (or filemanager) and rename your wp-contents/plugins directory (try making it "plugins.stop" it just makes it a logical change and easy to find/replace later).

That will temporarily remove all your plugins. If you can now get back into your dashboard then you can be suer it is a plugin issue and just follow a logical process of elimination to find the culprit

I want to thank everyone for their help and ideas. In the end I have no idea what the problem was.

But, I do know that my hosting company was worse than useless. So I've just shut it all down until I find another host company that I like.

    Live and learn.

I think you should first disable all the plugins and also review wp-config.php or wp-admin.php this is the main file where the main issue starts.
