FB Apps, how do they work?

I've been looking at a couple of products today, FB cash 2.0 and App Cash Hijack. Each one says that the apps can be used for local businesses to get more customers. Does anyone know how FB apps actually work and more importantly, how they work for local businesses?

    I'm going to buy it for my online e-commerce too.
    If there're basic knowledge (how to create fanpage,FBML) and give fanpage template for free. i'm not interested it.

    They're not about Fanpages but Facebook Applications which are apparently different, I just wondered how they were different and how they worked

    There is an API level that allows Apps to interact with user accounts you can read their frieids and leave posts on friend pages, grab the App user's profile picture and leave a modified version in their gallery and collect their email address.

    One type of application is the iFrame page one may stick in a fan page, this can take the form of a static page hosted on Amazon S3, a template pahe on a free iFrame hosting service or a stripped down wordpress blog on your own server.

    Lol, that might as well have been written in a foreign language. I'm a local business owner how would you explain to me who knows nothing about FB how an app could get me more clients please?

      Read the book The Facebook Effect by David Kirkpatrick. It will give you some backgorund information about Facebook applications.

      Basically facebook is designed as a platform where people can run their own software called apps. facebook is also a social network so the apps can go viral and can be used by many people very quickly.

      If you are a business owner looking for client then you might want to contact a registered facebook apps developer and have him design an application for you or you can advertize (through banner ads maybe) on apps which these developers already have running and which are popular.

      Just a suggestion.

      If you are looking to develop apps by yourself then I cannot help because I am looking for exactly the same information myself.
